7- For shower areas the cementitious water proofing shall be applied up to full height of the
ceramic.
8- For other areas waterproofing shall be 10 cm above structural slab level.
9- For dissimilar backgrounds, the steel lath shall be installed to ensure that cracking to tiles and
grout does not occur due to differential movements.
10- Cover and protect adjacent work from damage during installation.
11- Approved tiles adhesive shall be mixed and applied as per manufacturer recommendation for
fixing tiles on walls.

Setting Out and Installation

12- IR shall be raised after one line layout to invite consultant to check layout and make sure
surface are ready to install tiles for each area.
13- All the area of tiling shall be set out on grid and coordinated onto this grid, except were
indicated otherwise indicated on the IFC drawings.
14- Starting point shall be as per approved shop drawings.
15- Joints shall be true to line, continuous without steps.
16- Where position of movement/control joints are not specified shall be agreed with engineer at
site.
17- Joint shall be 2mm unless otherwise specified on IFC drawings.
18- Tiling shall be continued 10 cm above false ceiling unless otherwise indicated on drawings.
19- Extend tile work into recess and under or behind equipment and fixtures to form complete
covering without interruption unless otherwise indicated on drawings.
20- Provide approved corner trim at corners as manufacturer standard, as shown on drawings to
eliminate exposed tile edges.
21- Align floor and wall joints where possible unless otherwise indicated on drawings.
22- Approved adhesive shall be mixed in bucket (for walls only) as per manufacturer
recommendation.
23- The adhesive than shall be spread on the substrate to uniform thickness using a tooth spatula,
1st pass with straight edge and 2nd pass immediately after to desired thickness (usually 6mm
to 10mm) with toothed edge.
24- Mortar application area should be minimum 1mx1m.
25- Remove any excess mortar to trowel and return to bucket.
26- Lay the first tile square at the crossing of the starting point. For the best results, lightly press
and twist the tiles to set them in the mortar.

27- Place the tile spacer (2mm) at the edge of the 1st tile.
28- Continue to lay the tiles (floors and walls) in same manner along the reference point and then
add spacer.
29- Using the sprit level and straight edge to check final level of the tiles.
30- Remove any excess mortar with damp sponge.
31- Continue applying adhesive and laying the tile in work sections in the same manner. Adjust as
needed so the tiles are aligned straight, especially along the longest dimension of the room
where variations will show.
32- Apply adhesive and set the cut piece tile in position. Add tile spacers as needed.
33- Allow the adhesive to dry prior grouting.

Tile Grouting
34- Engineer shall be informed for completion of tile work to seek approval prior proceed with tile
grout.
35- The tile spacer shall be removed between the tiles & joints shall be cleaned properly.
36- Grout color shall be selected by the engineer and if requested mockup will be provided at site
for approval.
37- Mix the grout as per manufacturer recommendation with slow speed drill until uniform lump
free consistency is achieved.
38- Apply the grout into the joints, then diagonally across the joints with a rubber grout float,
removing as much excess as possible.
39- Allow the grout for min: 20 mins or as per manufacturer recommendations.
40- Wipe the grout lines in a circular motion with a sponge and water to set the grout just below
the tile surface. Follow up with a grout haze remover to clean the tile.
41- Remove any excess material immediately after application.
42- Once the grout is installed, avoid heavy traffic on the floor for at least 12-24 hours to allow the
grout to dry.
43- Remove any excess sealer immediately after application from tile faces by wiping with smooth
cloth.
44- A metal edge strip will be used to expose the edge of tile flooring indicated on drawings.

Final Cleaning & Adjusting

45- Remove adhesive, grout, or sealer from tile immediately after application.
46- Remove or replace any broken tiles.
47- Tiles may be repaired subject to engineer approval.
48- Foot traffic is not allowed at least 3 days after grouting is completed.
49- On completion when joints are hard, tiling shall be polished using dry cloth and protected as
required.
50- Protect final work with Kraft paper or other heavy covering during construction period to
prevent staining damage and wear.

6.3 Inspection Requirements

Refer to Appendix 1 ITP

Employer PMC Engineer Contractor
Project Name: CORDOBA (Phase-1) at Bloom Living
7. Construction Program
All the work activity will be performed as per an approved baseline program.

8. Quality Control Requirements

Surface Preparation: The substrate or surface on which the tiles will be installed must be properly
prepared. This involves ensuring the surface is clean, dry, level, and structurally sound. Any existing
contaminants, such as dirt, oil, or loose particles, should be removed to provide a suitable base for
tile installation.
Tile Selection: Verify that the selected tiles meet the specified requirements, including size, color,
finish, and overall appearance. Check for any defects, cracks, or variations in dimensions that may
affect the quality of the installation. It's important to ensure that the tiles are appropriate for the
intended application, such as being slip-resistant for wet areas.
Adhesive and Grout Selection: Choose the appropriate adhesive and grout based on the tile type,
size, and application. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations and ensure that the products
meet the required standards. Improper selection or application of adhesive or grout can lead to
bonding failures, cracking, or discoloration.
Installation Techniques: Ensure that the tile installation follows industry best practices and
standards. This includes proper alignment, spacing, and leveling of tiles, as well as correct adhesive
coverage. The installation should be consistent, with uniform joints and properly aligned patterns.
Cutting and Edging: Tiles often need to be cut to fit around edges, corners, or obstacles. Use
appropriate tools and techniques to make accurate cuts and ensure clean, smooth edges. Poorly
cut tiles can result in uneven joints, visual discrepancies, or difficulties during grout application.
Grouting: Proper grouting is essential to achieve a finished tile surface that is aesthetically pleasing
and structurally sound. Ensure that the grout is mixed correctly and applied uniformly, filling all
joints without leaving voids or excessive residue on the tile surface. Grout lines should be consistent
in width and depth.
Finishing and Cleaning: After the tile installation is complete, ensure that the surface is thoroughly
cleaned to remove any excess adhesive, grout, or other residues. Pay attention to details such as
removing grout haze and smoothing grout lines. Inspect the finished surface for any visible defects
or imperfections and make any necessary touch-ups or repairs.
Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the tile
installation process, including specifications, manufacturer instructions, quality control checklists,
and any deviations or corrective actions taken. This helps ensure accountability and serves as a
reference for future maintenance or repairs.
