NOTICE
The impeller shaft nut is a left hand thread (CCW).

(5) lnstall the compressor wheel (at room temperature) as
follows:
a. Put compressor wheel on the shaft.
b. Put a small amount of clean engine oil on the threads.
c. Tighten the nut (CCW) to 14 to 17 N•m (125 to 150 lb
in).
d. Remove nut from shaft and apply 6V1541 Quick Cure
Primer on the threads of the shaft and nut followed by
application of 9S3263 Retaining Compound.
e. Loosen nut and tighten again to 9 ± 2 N•m (80 ±
18 lb in) plus an additional 60 ± 5 degrees.
NOTICE
Do not bend or add stress to the shaft when nut is loosened
or tightened.

(1) Oíl seal. Do not lubricate the seal lip. Assemble with the
tip toward the water pump drive.
(2) Water seat and rit'!Q:
a. Pul water on the seal.
b. Use the 7N7843 Seal lnstaltation Tool to install the
seal and ring together in the housing bore, with the
shiny lace of the oeramic ring toward the carbon seal.
(3) Seal assembly:
a. Remove the spring from the sea!.
b. Put clean water inside the seal assembly.
c. Use the 7N7843 Seal lnstallation Tool and hand
pressure to install the seal assembly on the shaft until
the carbon laoe makes light contact with the shiny
lace of ceramic ring.
d. lnstall the spring.
