Preventa XPS Safety Relays
The XPS family of safety relays gives users increased functionality and flexibility when designing equipment to
meet safety requirements in the U.S., for the European Machinery Safety Directive and IEC safety requirements.
Preventa XPS safety relays are compact modules designed to monitor applications to allow machine operation
only when all safety controls are functioning properly and aren’t reporting hazardous conditions. These relays
provide solid-state outputs for use with diagnostics, troubleshooting and correct system operation, as well as
front panel LEDs for monitoring the current status. Additionally, most XPS safety relays are available in a variety
of monitoring configurations, including removable terminals, dual voltage operation, monitored start and single-
or dual-channel operation.
Applications:
• Automotive and machine tool • Industrial markets
• Complex and special machines • Manufacturing
• Crane and hoist • Material handling
• Food and beverage • Simple machine control
Preventa XPSMC Safety Controller
Designed to monitor multiple safety functions within an application simultaneously, a single Preventa XPSMC
controller is capable of replacing up to 20 safety relays on a control panel. A simple “drag and drop” interface
allows users to quickly and easily configure the safety functions onto the desired outputs. With an extensive
library of certified safety functions, the XPSMC unit is an ideal solution for safety applications requiring
conformity to SIL 3 of IEC 61508, category 4 per EN 954-1 and performance level “e” per EN ISO 13849-1.
In addition, extensive diagnostics and communications via various fieldbuses simplify commissioning and
troubleshooting. The controller also comes with more than 30 certified safety functions preprogrammed in the
XPSMCWIN configuration software library, including:
• Emergency stop monitoring, with or without time delay, one or two channel wiring
• Two-hand control (type III-C conforming to EN 574-1/ISO 13851)
• Light curtain monitoring, solid-state and relay output types
• Dynamic monitoring of hydraulic valves on linear and eccentric presses
Applications:
• Automotive and machine tool • Manufacturing
• Complex and special machines • Material handling
• Crane and hoist • Packaging
• Food and beverage • Simple machine control
• Industrial markets

Preventa XPSMF Safety PLC
The Preventa XPSMF safety PLC is a programmable safety system that users can interface to the
safety-related components within a control system for machinery and equipment. It is an ideal solution for
applications requiring multiple and simultaneous safety functions or complicated safety solutions. The XPSMF
safety PLC also allows users to develop their own programs and scale the system to meet their desired level
of system complexity.
The XPSMF range is designed to meet SIL 3 of IEC 61508, category 4 per EN 954-1 and performance level
“e” per EN ISO 13849-1. The XPSMF safety PLC also allows communication for both safety and non-safety
information using Safe Ethernet, the fastest safety-related communications network available.
Applications:
• Automotive and machine tool • Manufacturing
• Complex and special machines • Material handling
• Crane and hoist • Process control
• Food and beverage
AS-i Interface
The AS-i Interface Safety at Work solution is a cabling and monitoring system that dramatically simplifies
the development of safety systems. Consisting of a single communications bus (a flat yellow cable),
the AS-i Interface system connects safety monitors and safety interfaces across your network using
displacement connectors and simple-to-use “drag and drop” software to configure the safety functions
onto the desired outputs.
Capable of managing safety functions up to SIL 3 of IEC 61508, category 4 per EN 954-1 and performance
level “e” per EN ISO 13849-1, the AS-i Interface Safety at Work system meets the needs of the most common
safety monitoring applications.
Applications:
• Automotive and machine tool • Industrial markets
• Complex and special machines • Manufacturing
• Control and monitoring • Material handling
• Discrete manufacturing • Simple machine control
• Food and beverage
Safety Interlock Switches
The Preventa XCS safety interlock switches are designed to protect personnel by verifying that doors, gates
and guards are closed before a process can start up. It minimizes potential accidents by removing the
actuating key from the switch and sending a stop signal to the safety circuit when the guard or gate is open.
Simple to install and configure, XCS safety interlocks feature metal or plastic bodies and can be used with an
assortment of actuating keys to make the switch suitable for a variety of safety applications that are compliant
with both domestic and international standards.
Applications:
• Automotive and machine tool • Packaging
• Complex and special machines • Industrial markets
• Crane and hoist • Infrastructure
• Food and beverage • Manufacturing

Non-contact Safety Interlock Switches
Preventa XCSDM non-contact safety interlock switches perform the same functions as standard mechanical
safety interlock switches, but are designed to be used where no contact is desired between the switch and its
actuating key. Suitable for all safety circuits, these tamper-resistant non-contact safety interlocks tolerate door
or guard misalignment and place no inherent operating forces on gates or doors. They also feature multiple
mounting options for maximum flexibility. Small and sealed, these devices are ideal for confined spaces or
washdown applications.
Applications:
• Automotive and machine tool • Packaging
• Crane and hoist • Manufacturing
• Food and beverage • Material handling
• Industrial markets • Simple machine control
Safety Limit Switches
Preventa XCS safety limit switches are designed to protect personnel in machine guarding applications where
physical contact with the guard is required. Featuring positive opening contact operation and tamper resistant
mounting, Preventa safety limit switches interrupt machine or control processes when the switch’s plunger or
lever is deflected by the sliding action of the guard or other moving object. These switches are available in two
styles: miniature or compact with either plastic or metal bodies.
Applications:
• Automotive and machine tool • Packaging
• Complex and special machines • Manufacturing
• Food and beverage • Material handling
• Industrial markets
Light Curtains
Preventa XUSL light curtains provide point of operation protection around industrial machinery or perimeter
guarding of large areas without the need for traditional gates or guards. It’s the ideal solution for safeguarding
larger areas without impeding visibility or easy access to the machine or process. XUSLB and XUSLD light
curtains feature either 14 mm or 30 mm Minimum Object Sensitivity (MOS) with a slim and rugged design that
creates a small mounting footprint suitable for spatially challenged locations. Fixed and floating blanking is
standard on the XUSLD as well. XUSLP light curtains feature long-range body detection for perimeter guarding
around hazardous areas or work cells, with multiple or individual beam versions and configurations.
Applications:
• Automotive and machine tool • Packaging
• Complex and special machines • Manufacturing
• Food and beverage • Material handling
• Industrial markets • Simple machine control

Cable Pull Switches
The Preventa XY2 cable pull switches enable an emergency stop to be signaled at any point along a cable up
to 165 ft. in length. Simple to operate and install, these cost-effective cable pull switches provide quick access
to shut off equipment across wide areas. Available in two configurations, XY2 switches can provide emergency
stop operation — where switch actuation locks the contacts in the open position and requires manual reset —
or normal stop operation, for momentary, non-emergency system stoppage. All switches meet all the
requirements of ISO 13850, relating to emergency stop devices, and meet United States standards as well.
Applications:
• Automotive and machine tool • Industrial markets
• Complex and special machines • Manufacturing
• Crane and hoist • Material handling
• Food and beverage • Simple machine control
• HVAC
