Unit set
D = { x|x is a whole number greater than 4 but less than 6 }

Empty set
F = { x|x is a whole number greater than 4 but less than 5 }

Universal set
U = {x|x is a positive integer, 𝑥 3 = 8}

SUBSETS AND COUNTING

Given: F = { a, e, i, o, u }
There are 5 elements in set F and
can be written as n(F) or n(F) = 5.
The number of elements or members
in the set is called cardinal number.

SUBSETS AND COUNTING

Given: F = { a, b, c, d, e}
G = { a, e }
The set G is a subset of the set F
since every element of G is an element
of F.
G⊂F ( G is a proper subset of F)

OPERATIONS ON SETS

•Union of sets
•Intersection of sets
•Complement of a set
•Difference of two sets
