Railway Platform Line Inspection

1. A joint inspection was conducted to evaluate deep screening of platform lines at Mugma and Kalubathan stations using Ballast Cleaning Machines (BCM). 2. At some locations, deep screening is possible with removal of obstructions and slewing of tracks by 500mm, while other locations have insufficient clearance for BCM. 3. Pre-work including inspection of obstructions, ballast cleaning and caution on adjacent lines is required before deep screening. Post-work such as reverse slewing and muck disposal is also needed.

Joint Inspection report of ADEN/TMC/ASN and AEN/line/ASN regarding BCM deep

screening of platform line

On inspection of mugma and kalubathan station platform line regarding BCM deep
screening, the following point taken as consideration:-
1. Mugma DN loop 01, BCM deep screening is not possible due to short clearance of OHE
mast. Mugma DN loop 02, BCM deep screening possible without slewing and with
removal of obstruction.
2. Mugma DN GC, UP GC & UP loop; Kalubathan DN GC & UP GC, BCM deep
screening possible with slewing of line and removal of obstruction.
3. There are 250 mm clearance between sleeper end and top platform coping.
4. To adjust the chain trough, we need 500 mm slew in opposite direction to platform
coping. Minimum 50 meters distance required for ramp in and ramp out slew before and
after platform respectively.
5. 500 mm slew should be done by BCM itself with 02 round.
6. Muck should be thrown on platform, wherever it is not possible to throw it out.
7. PRE WORK :-
a. Joint inspection should be done with electrical, signal & tele., TRD, Rail-tel, TI,
IOW department for different type of obstruction (wire & cables, water pipe,
drainage pipe etc.) under track, adjacent to track and on platform wall with
Engineering dept.
b. Shoulder ballast after sleeper end (non platform side) should be cleaned for
slewing upto 550 mm.
c. For shoulder ballast cleaning, caution of 30 kmph required on specific line and
adjacent line 02 days before start of BCM deep screening.
8. POST WORK :-
a. 500 mm reverse slew should be done by BCM with 02 round after deep screening,
before packing by duomatic machine.
b. Muck disposal should be done by manual labour.
9.

of 1400 mm)
During BCM deep screening, both line (UP loop and UP GR2) should be blocked.
