CONDITIONAL CONNECTORS:

· If/ provided that/ providing that (con tal de que)/ As long as (siempre y cuando) / on
condition that (con la condición de que) + sentence

· In case (por si..) + sentence

COMPARATIVE CONNECTORS (revise parallel and gradual increase)

· As if / As though (como si…)+ sentence

REASON CONNECTORS (CAUSALES)

· Because of/ due to/ owing to (por/ debido a/ a causa de) + noun

· As a resut of + noun (como resultado de)

· Bearing in mind (that) (teniendo en cuenta) (que)

· Because of the fact that/ owing to the fact that/ due to the fact that + sentence
(debido a que, a causa de que).

· Since (ya que)/ As (como…) /Seeing that viendo que) + sentence

CONTRAST CONNECTORS (CONCESIVAS)

· Much as (por mucho que…) + sentence

· Although (aunque)/ even though (incluso aunque) + sentence

· In spite of the fact that/ despite the fact that/notwithstanding that + sentence (a pesar

· In spite of/ despite + noun or --ing verb ( a pesar de)

· Nevertheless;.......... + sentence ( no obstante)

RESULT CONNECTORS (CONSECUTIVAS)

· So + adjective or adverb+ that + sentence: tan………..que Ej: He is so tall that he is


really good at basket.

· Such a/an + adjective + countable noun singular + that + sentence : Ej: He is such a tall
boy that he is really good at basket.

· Such + uncountable noun/ plural nouns + that + sentence: Ej: They are such tall boys
that they are really good at basket.

· So much + singular noun + that: I´ve got so much time that I am bored. (tanto …que)

· So many + plural noun + that: I´ve got so many exams that I´m upset. (tantos …..que)

· So little + singular noun + that: I´ve got so little time that I am nervous. (tan poco…que)

· So few + plural noun + that: I´ve got so few exams that I feel happy. (tan pocos…que)

· Other ways of expressing result: As a result;...... + sentence (como resultado,..)

· As a consequence;... + sentence (como consecuencia,…..)

· Consequently;...... + sentence ( por consiguiente;….)

· The result of + noun is that….+ sentence Ej: the result of their argument is that they
are very sorry now.

· The consequence of+ noun is that….+ sentence: the consequence of their argument is
that they are very upset now.

PURPOSE CONNECTORS (DE FINALIDAD)

· In order to/ so as to + infinitive: para…….

· In order not to/ so as not to + infinitive: para no …..

· So that/ in order that + subject + will/will be able to/ can PARA QUE: I´ll give you my
number so that you will/ will be able to/ can phone me

· So that/ in order that+ subject+ would/ would be able to/ could PARA QUE: I gave him
my number so that he would/ would be able to/ could phone me.

· So that/ in order that + negative verbs: PARA QUE NO

· Other ways of expressing purpose: with the aim/purpose of + - ing (con el propósito
de...)
· With a view to +- ing (con vistas a )

CORRELATIONS

· Both ...........and ..........: tanto .........como........

· Either ...........or...........: o ...........o
