1. From the PPTs, the Southeast Asia Teachers Competency Standards and the TEDx
videos that you viewed, what competencies does a great teacher possess?
Answer: I am not fully aware that I need to view a video. But, to answer the question,
“What competencies does a great teacher possess?” My answer is, a competencies that a
great teacher must possess are having subject knowledge, effective communication,
adaptability, patience, empathy, creativity, and the ability to motivate and inspire pupils.
Aside from that, a teacher must often excel in problem-solving and fostering a positive
learning environment.
2. Are these competencies limited only to professional competencies?
Answer: No! Some personal competencies like empathy, patience, adaptability, and a
genuine passion for teaching are characteristics that a teacher must have in order to have
good relationship towards the pupils. Being compassionate to its pupils and passionate to
its work are highly appropriate and is a good sign for being an effective teacher.
3. For a teacher to be great, is it enough to possess the professional competencies to plan a
lesson, execute a lesson plan, manage a class, assess learning, compute and report grades?
Explain your answer.
Answer: I think, professional competencies are highly important but it is not enough. It is
because a teacher must have personal competences to understand the needs of different
learners. If professional competencies are being possess without personal competencies,
the teacher will have high standard and sometimes forget how to be humane.
We can’t deny the fact that professional competencies makes learning effective and
implemented but sometimes it hurt learners who are likely have hard time in learning
especially those who have special needs.
4. For a teacher to be great, which is more important- personal qualities or professional
competencies?
Answer: They both have a vital role to a teacher for being great. I must say that both are
important and they must be balance to come up being an effective teacher. Personal
qualities are more often define the teacher and student relationship and this professional
competencies are being competent on ensuring effective delivery of the subject matter.

5. Who are the teacher that we remember most?

Answer: As for me, the teacher who I remember the most is the strict teacher. It is
because their facial expression and how they are so strict in teaching makes me eager to
learn more in order to not be scolded. And I can say that, being strict is being an effective
teacher also. They are strict but they are more focus and concern in teaching the pupils
effectively.

Reflect

Which personal traits do I possess? Not possess? Where do I need improvement in?
Answer: I can say that I do possess all the personal qualities but being so knowledgeable
and effective communication are somewhat my weakness because I don’t really have
enough confidence to fight my stage-fright and manage my emotions.
I think I need to improve this competencies so that I can say that I am deserving in this
profession.

Which professional competencies am I strongly capable of demonstrating?

Answer: I can say that I am slightly strong in having knowledge because I am more eager
to learn and to seek more knowledge to make myself prepared. It is because I believed that
having knowledge is having confidence also.

In which competencies do I need to develop more?

Answer: I think I need to develop on how to be effective in communicating. It is because
I am a less talkative person that talking in crowd is very difficult for me. But I believed
that everything is possible with being hardworking and having dedication to learn more
and more.
Who are the teachers that we remember most?
Answer: The strict teacher.

b.) My specific research questions are:
1. How to be more creative?
2. What can I do to obtain professional competencies?
3. Should I develop my personal qualities more?
c) To answer my specific research questions,
I must learn how to attain qualities suited for being an effective teacher.
Answer: 1. I must find ways and efforts to make myself more creative.
2. I must study harder and be hardworking and passionate. Study harder to
have more knowledge and passionate enough for what I am doing.
3. I should develop my personal qualities more to enhance my relationship and to

Attach your reflection here.

Being so dedicated in making myself more deserving having no hard time to myself, I learn
that I only need to take everything easily. I learned that it is not necessary for me to force
myself and be drain in a thing that I am not good at but only focus on this that I am capable
of and is having time to progress and develop.

On the other hand, being passionate in everything you do makes the work easier and fast. I
just don’t have to pressure myself but work with pride and inspiration. I believed that I can
get what I manifest the most and I can be what I wanted to be.

Therefore, I am willing to do my best so that I can say that I am deserving and I am having
good time even in this bad situation where everything felt tired and hopeless. With my
inspirations and dedication to have progress, everything will be align in God’s will.

that raised in my mind. These includes:
a) What is the essence of being a teacher?
b) What can I do to be good teacher?
c) Is being a good teacher enough?

REFLECT
Thinking deeply about those problems, perhaps something must have been done to solve
the problem or answer the question, like:
a) Being a responsible, creative, and effective teacher.
b) Learn to accept ones weakness and enhance it with dedication and
willingness to improve.
c) Being good mix with being an effective teacher.

Notice
Unlike the traditional face-to face classroom environment, online or virtual environment
is a bit difficult to manage. It is because Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is imaginary
and not in the physical sense. It has concerns or walls and it can be set up with the support
of technology.

As a teacher, what have you discovered to be easy to implement in your virtual class?
Answer: I can’t answer this question as I am not yet a teacher. But I think Google
Classroom helps the teacher to lighten the weight of struggles in teaching.

How did the students show their active participation in the lesson?
Answer: They listened attentively and cooperate well in class.

Analyze
Which of the following is/are your analysis/analyses of on-line learning environment?
Check one or more.
________It was difficult to observe the physical behavior of the students.
________It takes time for students to learn how to use the platform
________ Students who are alone in their home space find difficulty to make responses.
________Internet connectivity is great factor to support a conducive environment.

Reflect
As a future teacher, I feel that the on-line learning environment can be safe
I am going to oppose this line as on-line learning is not really convenient for learning. It
has factors that affect the pupils’ engagement in learning especially those who are not
able to afford cellular phone.

I think that teaching in a virtual learning environment is not good for learning.
