COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Students will be able to:
1. To familiarize the students with the essentials of Event Management;
2. To understand the planning of Event;
3. To understand the management of Event
COURSE OUTCOMES
On completion of this course, the students will be able to
CO1-Obtain a sense of responsibility for the multi-disciplinary nature of event management
CO2-Gain confidence and enjoyment from involvement in the dynamic industry of event management
CO3- Identify best practice in the development and delivery of successful conferences and corporate
gatherings
CO4-Identify the key elements of a conference and the processes involved in venue selection, registration,
catering, accommodation, transport, theming, security and entertainment
CO5- Identify management essentials such as developing budgets, critical paths, work breakdown
structures, risk mitigation and contingency planning.

Unit - I
Introduction to Events: Scope - Nature and Importance – Types of Events - Unique features and
similarities – Practices in Event Management - Key steps to a successful event.
Unit - II
The Dynamics of Event Management: Event Planning and organizing – Problem Solving and Crisis
Management – Leadership and Participants Management – Managing People and Time – Site and
Infrastructure Management.
Unit – III
Economic, socio- cultural and environmental impact of MICE tourism, issue and challenges,
Travel Industry Fairs – Benefits of Fairs - ITB, WTM, SATTE, OTM,
