SOC 113: Introduction to Development Studies
This course is an introductory (100 level) course in the Department of Sociology. It is the fresh students’
first point of entry into the wide, stimulating and inestimably desirable subject of economic growth,
human welfare and social change. The course represents the first step into highlighting the synergy
between Sociological studies and Development studies. SOC 113 introduces students into the history,
scope and conceptual foundations of development studies. In addition, it serves to stimulate the interest
