«Geometry Kaleidoscope jacket»

Artist crochet PATTERN, project #3

by Tania Skalozub
Pattern

THIS PATTERN IS WRITTEN IN US TERMS

This colourful jacket is made up of 88 squares joined with single crochet and edged with elastic
crochet pattern.
The colours are arranged as on the picture. But you can also lay out the squares in your own way
with your colour range.

All ends are hidden after assembling the parts with needle. I recommend to leave long tails to
make it easier to hide them.

The size is S, M
You can add one row of squares at the back and two rows at the front to make it larger.

Measurements:

Length - 17 inches
Wide - 22 inches
Sleeve length - 16 inches
Sleeve wide - 10 inches

Instructions for two-colour square

I use two coolers to crochet the square to get this geometric kaleidoscope e ect. You can make
random combination of colours, but I recommend to use two contrast colours - one is darker than
another one.

Each square is made up of 4 rounds of double crochets, ch 2 on corners.

How to join the second yarn: pull the yarn through the loop on your hook. It will be considered as
1 ch. Do the same thing when you change the colours. Don’t cut the yarn your are not using at the
moment. Just put the yarn that you are not using along the row and crochet with the main yarn
over it.
Try not to make loose crocheting so the second yarn won’t be visible.

See pictures below and watch video before you start - https://youtu.be/e83dOPaOaxI

ff
R1 - with colour 1 start the centre with magic loop, ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in ring,
1 ch, switch the colour 2 (3 dc, 2 ch) two times in ring, join sl st to top of 3 ch with colour 1,
tighten the magic loop.

R2 - With colour 1 ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc, 2 dc in ch 2 of the previous row, ch 2, 2 dc into the
same ch 2 of the previous row, 3 dc, 2 dc into the next ch 2 of the previous row, ch 1, switch to
colour 2, 2 dc into the same ch 2 of the previous row, 3 dc, 2 dc into the next ch 2 of the previous
row, ch 2, 2 dc into the same ch 2 of the previous row, 3 dc, 2 dc into the next ch 2 of the
previous row, ch 1, switch to colour 1, 2 dc into the same ch 2 of the previous row, sl st to join.

For R3 and R4 continue to repeat the pattern as R2

Finished total stitches around - 68

The size of each square is approximately 4”. Each cooler must be in 11 squares.

Hide all the tails. Follow the video to watch how I do this - https://youtu.be/PNTkoDhjTbo

Layout
Lay out granny squares as illustrated and join with single crochet with matching colour yarns.
Watch video - https://youtu.be/hGXr6yz34a8

Then fold it and join the sleeve line and sides.

Finishing

When the squares are joined knot the tails of the yarn and hide them as shown in this video -
https://youtu.be/ISQc3DnE9xs

Now let’s work with elastics. First I crochet the elastic on the bottom of the jacket with white
colour yarn.

R1 - Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 5 dc, dc2tog, (6 dc, dc2tog) repeat 19 times, sl st to join.

R2 - Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), (1 fpdc, 1 bpd) repeat until the end of the row, sl st to join.
R3-R7 - Do the same as R2.

After that crochet elastic (light blue colour) on the front part around from the bottom, neck area, to
the bottom.
There must be approximately 186 dc. Use the same pattern - (1 fpdc, 1 bpd) repeat for 5 rows in
total.

For the cu s make the same elastic (green colour) , 98 dc, 3 rows.

Hide all the tails with needle.

Thank you for following my instructions.

Please feel free to correct me so I could perform better next time and make current tutorial more
easy to follow.

The size is universal and the cardigan is a bit oversized. But you can adjust it to your personal
measurement by adding extra row in grand squares, changing the number of granny squares.
You can also covert it into jacket. In that case just skip 5 rows of squares at the bottom.

I wish you enjoy working under this project.
