The CPM identifies a firm’s major competitors and its particular strength and weaknesses In
relation to a sample firm’s strategic position. Critical success factors in a CPM include internal
and external issues therefore the rating refers to strength and weaknesses. Where 4= major

Universities Introduction:

Quaid-i-Azam University
This University was established as University of Islamabad under an Act of National Assembly
passed in July, 1967. It started teaching and research program for M.Phil & Ph.D. degrees. Later
on, it was decided to start M.Sc. degree program for graduates from all regions of the country,
based on regional quota. The University was housed initially in rented buildings in Satellite
Town, Rawalpindi and moved to its permanent Campus in October 1971. The University was
renamed as "Quaid-i-Azam University" in 1976 at the time of centenary celebrations of the
Founder of Pakistan. The University is recognized in Pakistan and abroad as an Institution of
higher academic standards and its graduates receive acceptance in universities and research
institutions the world over. The University has also established research collaboration with
selected universities/research organizations in United States, Europe and South Asia. The
University is rated as one of top public institution of higher education in Pakistan which has
qualified team of teachers and researchers. More than 80% of the teachers hold doctoral degrees
with experience of working in renowned universities of the world. The University has the
distinction of having a large number of distinguished scientists and educationists as its faculty
members, holding national awards and international recognition.

NUST:
National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) was established in March 1991 for the
promotion of higher scientific education in the country, especially in the fields of science and
technology by providing stable and disciplined academic environment together with need-based
research, pertinent to industrial requirements. The University was granted its Charter in 1993.
Over the years, the University has expanded in scope, services and stature and has emerged as a
leading comprehensive University in the public sector
NUST is currently ranked 366th in the world by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), UK, ranking of
2010. In subject-wise ranking, NUST is rated among the top 300 in Engineering & IT and Arts &
Humanities.

International Islamic University(IIUI):


The foundation of the Islamic University, Islamabad was laid on the first day of the fifteenth
century Hijrah i.e. Muharram 1, 1401 (November 11,1980). This landmark of the beginning of
the new Century symbolizes the aspirations and hopes of the Muslim Ummah for an Islamic
renaissance. The university was created to produce scholar and practitioners who are imbued
with Islamic ideology, whose character and personality conforms to the teachings of Islam, and
who are capable to cater to the economic, social, political, technological and intellectual needs of
the Muslim Ummah. Islamic Research Institute and few other units like Iqbal International
Institute for Research & Dialogue, Dawah Academy, Shariah Academy and Institute of
Professional Development are situated within the premises of majestic Faisal Mosque (spread
over an area of 189,705 square meters) which is a symbol of International Islamic brotherhood
and unity. In conformance with the Islamic precepts, the university provides academic services
to men and women through separate campuses for each segment. These campuses, along with the
central library, administrative wing and hostels, are located in sector H-10.

COMSAT:
COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) started its journey in 1998, and
established its first campus at Islamabad in April 1998. The CIIT at present comprises of five
Faculties and 16 Departments. Presently, 23 under graduate degree programs and 32 graduate
programs are on offer in which more than 18,000 students are enrolled. There are more than
1,745 faculty members working in CIIT. More than320 faculty members and academic managers
holding PhD qualification are currently serving the CIIT. The remaining have MS / MPhil in
relevant fields. CIIT has proudly produced more than 12,000 graduates since its inception in
2000. So far, 33 convocations have been organized in its campuses. More than 420 faculty
members are under going advanced education leading to MS and PhD degrees and post doctoral
research in USA, UK, China, France, etc. The funding for advanced education has come from
CIIT Scholarships, HEC Scholarships and Ministry of Science and Technology Scholarships.

During the Ten years since its inception, independent entities have evaluated CIIT and the
quality of programs it offers, such as the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan
Engineering Council (PEC) and the Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) Web of Knowledge.
Undergraduate engineering degree programs of the CIIT have been accredited by the Pakistan
Engineering Council (PEC), the accrediting body for engineering education in the country. The
Higher Education Commission (HEC) in an exercise for the ranking of institutions of higher
education in Pakistan has ranked CIIT at number 8 among the engineering institutions of higher
education during 2006. In terms of research citations, the research produced at CIIT has been
ranked at number two as notified by HEC in 2008.

In terms of research output, CIIT has been consistently ranked at number seven among all the
institutions of higher education numbering more than 134 in the country since 2006 until 2009,
as notified by HEC, based on Research output in peer-reviewed journals indexed by Thomson-
Reuters, the Institute of Scientific Information (ISI), Web of Knowledge, USA CIIT. It further
improved its position and rose to number six during 2010.
