Synology Drive - Tutorial

Hello, in this tutorial we will explore how to connect users to Synology Drive and
backup/synchronize their data.

Section 1:Install the Synology Drive Client.

Windows:
Go to the following URL and install Synology Drive Client.

Once the exe finishes downloading, click on it and follow the installation instructions.

Linux:
Open the software manager from the taskbar and search for Synology drive (Figure 1)

Click the install button to install the client (Figure 2)

Section 2: Launch the Synology Drive client and
connect the user:
Step 1:
To connect the user you will need to insert the following information (see Figure 3 for example):
1. Synology NAS IP :
2. NAS Login username
3. NAS Login password
And then click the Next button.

Once you click the Next button you will be notified that the SSL certificate is not trusted - Click
Proceed Anyway (check Figure 4)

At the next step select the Sync Task option and click Next(Figure 5)

Section 3: Sync local folders to the Synology Drive
client
Step 1
First, we have to select the folder to sync from our NAS. Click the first change button to select
the location of the folder (Figure 6)

Now select MyDrive and then click the + icon to create a new folder. Name the folder the same
name as the folder you want to sync. In this example, I will sync the Desktop folder so I will
name the folder Desktop (Check Figure 7 and Figure 8)

When you create the folder make sure that is selected and then click the OK button

In this step, we have to select the location of the folder on our computer that we want to sync( in
our example Desktop). So click on the second change button (Figure 9)

Navigate to the location of your folder and select it (Figure 10)

Make sure that you deselect the Create an empty “SynologyDrive” folder and then click the OK
button (Figure 11)

Lastly, make sure that On-Demand sync is disable and then then click Done (Figure 12)

Section 4 Add more sync folders:
Step 1
If you want to sync more folders (to backup them), on the main window of Synology Drive Client
click on the +Create button. (Figure 13)

On the next page click the Next button (Figure 14)

Follow the steps in Section 3 to add more folders sync
