LIVING ROSARY
G ood ______ my brothers and sisters in Christ! The Rosary is the
story of the New Testament. Through the beads, we follow the life of
Mary and Jesus.
We follow Mary from the day the Archangel Gabriel came to ask her to
become the mother of Christ, to the day she was crowned Queen of
Heaven.
We follow Jesus from the moment the Holy Spirit came down on Mary,
through his childhood, his cruel death on the cross, the joy of Easter
when he rose from the dead to the day he ascended to Heaven in glory
The praying of the rosary starts with the Apostle’s Creed, followed by
three Hail Mary’s and Glory be to the Father. The Joyful, Sorrowful,
Glorious and Luminous Mysteries take us to a prayerful journey of Jesus
Christ and Mary in the Gospel which are meditated upon with a decade
of Hail Mary’s, followed by Glory be to the Father, an Our Father and
an O My Jesus after every recitation of the mysteries. After completing
the 5 decades, the Hail Holy Queen concludes it.
Several apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary and her message of
encouragement to pray the rosary to change the world have been the
reason for the spread of the devotion.
St. John Paul II claimed that rosary was his favorite prayer as he said,
“a prayer that everyone can pray. Through this devotion he added, “We
received abundant grace, as though from the hands of Redeemer.”
It is through rosary, when we pray ardently, each prayer bead of the
rosary form crowns of roses composed of 153 white roses and 16 red
roses offered to Jesus and Mary in heaven.
