TARGET AUDIENCE RESEARCH
We asked our classmates some questions on a survey and found out if they like boxing or not and over
half of the answers were yes, showing how popular of a sport it is. We also asked if they had a favourite
boxer and the answers we had were famous names like Jake Paul and Muhammed Ali which almost
everyone knows, showing again how popular Boxing is.

As our film is about fear of failure, we asked some questions about fear of failure in
film and what makes a film good or bad. To make our film more enjoyable for our
target audience we could use the answers to help us achieve this, we can also use
these answers to help with depicting the fear of failure in our film. We also asked
what makes a film bad so we know what to avoid when making this film.
Around 40% of the UK have a fear of failure.

UNIQUE SELLING POINT.
The fear of failure, or of not being good enough, and fighting hard for where they want
to be is something someone of any age or background has, is or will one day experience.
This then covers the target of our age rating, 15, whilst catering to a mostly male and
younger target audience, it also covers a widespread collective of all people, non
specific to either gender or background, making our idea, and our film a relatable piece
for many people for many different reasons, whether it be an interest in sports or
mental health.
Techniques we will use to cover this idea - we will closely follow two of the main
components and two of the most popular subjects that our story and character is
centered around: sports and mental health.

THEMES.
Throughout the film, we are essentially side by side with our main

Gerald McClellan
Gerald Allen McClellan is a former professional
boxer who competed from 1988 to 1995. In
1995, during a fight with Nigel Benn, he
suffered a severe brain injury. This would be
his final fight. He spent eleven days in a coma
and was found to have suffered extensive
brain damage. He lost his eyesight, the ability

certain role he’s playing. He is also good at expressing emotions in a subtle
and obvious way, which comes in handy in a psychological drama. In our
production it would be easier to cast someone younger, closer to our age.
Robert De Niro
We are planning to focus the story one one main character, however if
we were to include a supporting character, it would either be a parental
figure/mentor, a partner or a friend.
