Before you take your seat, please arrange your chairs properly and pick up the
pieces of paper if there are any.
You may now take your seat.
Checking of attendance
Group attendance checking.

lesson or presenting the new There will be strips of papers with written unit of measurements posted on the
lesson board. Group each unit of measurement into metric or English system. Paste
each strips of paper on the correct column.

B. Establishing a purpose for the Fun Game: Roll Me without Breaking
lesson
Mechanics:
1. The game master will prepare a name picker app to choose the player to
play the game. There will be 5 players to have the chance to play the game.
2. The chosen player will roll the toilet paper with a glass of water on top of it
on the table.
3. Be careful in rolling the toilet paper because once the toilet paper break, the
game is over.
4. The table have markings with measurement. Once the toilet paper break,
the markings opposite to where it stops will be his/her reward.
5. There is a fortune board in front. The player will choose the equivalent of
the measurement on the board. The fortune board have the rewards hidden
in each choice.
C. Presenting In this lesson, you will learn how to solve problems involving conversion
examples/instances of the of units and its prerequisite skill which is the conversion of measurements
new lesson from one unit to another in both Metric and English systems. Since these
systems are widely used in our community, a good grasp of the concept will
help you to be more accurate in solving these problems.

unit, ____________ it to its equivalent unit.
E. Discussing new concepts and Word problems examples:
practicing new skills # 2 1. Convert 98.35 decameters to centimeters.
Solution:
Looking at the table of metric units of lenth, there are three steps to the right,
from decameters to centimeters.
Three steps to the right from decameter to centimeter
km hm dam m dam cm mm
Move three decimal places to the right. 98.350
98, 350 cm
2. A ribbon was divided into two strips. The first strip measures 176 cm, while
the second strip measures 24 cm. what is the length of the original ribbon in
meters?
Solution:
1st step: Find the original length of the ribbon.
176cm + 24cm= 200cm
2nd step: Convert 200cm to m.
km hm dam m dam cm mm
Move two steps to the left. 200m

Trivia:
Indigenous people in the Philippines use the following measurement.
Buwig
Balde
Salop
Gatang
Kaban
The table below shows the equivalent measurement of their way of
measurement.
Traditional Measurement Equivalent
(Ancient and Indigenous People) Measurement
Buwig Measurement use for banana
fruit
6kg-8kg
Balde Depending on the size they used.
Small- 5kg
Medium-10kg
Large-15-20kg
Salop 2.2 kg
Gatang 1 cup/250 mL
Kaban 50kg
Although these measurements are commonly used by indigenous people,
sometimes, we also got the chance to use this measurement specially during
the absence of measuring devices.
Example Problem:
Juan dela Cruz is a member of Alangan in Mindoro particularly in Sta
Cruz Occidental Mindoro. One day his mother asked him to buy 3 salop of
malagkit, 1 (small) balde of kamote and 1 buwig of banana (6kg) at their
neighborhood. His mother will cook ginataang malagkit for Juan’s birthday.
How many kilograms of malagkit, kamote and banana will he buy? How
much will he spend if:
1 salop=₱80
1 balde=₱50
1 buwig=₱60
F. Developing mastery Pass the Ball (with a twist)
(leads to Formative Assessment Mechanics:
3) 1. The teacher will play the music.
2. While the music is on, students will pass the ball to the left or to the right
until the music stops.
3. When the music stops, the person holding the ball will answer the given
word problem flashed on screen. He/She will choose the answer on the
given choices below each word problem. He/She will click the button of the
answer of his/her choice.
4. If his/her answer is correct, he/she will receive a reward otherwise, he/she
will receive his/her consequence.
Given word problems:
1. If 1m=100cm, how many centimeters are there in 5.43m?
5430cm 543cm
2. If 1kg=1000g, how many kilograms are there in 3245g?
32.45kg 3.245kg
3. If 1 cup= 250mL, how many cups of water is needed to fill a 1 Liter
container?
4 cups 2cups
4. Me and my family visited Oriental Mindoro last Christmas vacation. It takes
420 minutes for us to arrived at our destination there. How many hours do
we consume travelling to Oriental Mindoro?
6hours 7hours
5. A person drank 60ml of milk. Is that more or less than half liter of milk?
