Thunderstorms last up to 30 minutes and produce powerful winds over 50 mph and loud noises from large amounts of electricity flowing from clouds to the ground. Tsunamis are series of waves caused by large volumes of water displacement, generally in oceans or large lakes, and can be triggered by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, or underwater explosions. Dust and sand storms occur when strong winds lift large amounts of dry sand and dust from bare soils, lasting 1 minute to an hour and commonly found in the Southwest, which can irritate eyes. Volcanoes are openings where lava and rocks erupt from land, lasting days to years, forming at plate boundaries.

A thunderstorm is a rain-bearing cloud that also produces lightning.

It lasts
up to 30 minutes and can create powerful winds over 50mph. understorms
are loud because the amount of electrical energy that lows from the cloud to
the ground is so enormous.

A tsunami is a series of waves in a water body caused by the displacement of a

large volume of water, generally in an ocean or a large lake. Earthquakes,
volcanic eruptions, and other underwater explosions above or below water all
have the potential to generate a tsunami.

Sand and dust storms usually occur when strong winds li t large amounts of
sand and dust from bare, dry soils rise into the atmosphere. Dust storms can
last from 1 min to an hour. ey can occur anywhere in the United States but
are most common in the Southwest. It can cause irritation in the eye when
dust or sand lies in.

Volcanoes are openings, or vents where lava, rocks, and steam erupt onto the
Earth's surface. Volcanic eruptions can last days, months, or even years. On
land, volcanoes form when one tectonic plate moves under another.

A wind that is strong enough to cause at least light damage to trees and
buildings and may or may not be accompanied by precipitation. Wind speeds
during a windstorm typically exceed 55 km (34 miles) per hour. ey can occur
throughout the year, but are most frequent between October and March, with
peak intensity in the winter months.

A drought is a period of drier-than-normal conditions. A drought can last for

days, months, or years. Drought o ten has large impacts on the ecosystems
and agriculture of a fected regions, and causes harm to the local economy.
Drought is caused by a lack of rainfall, causing serious water shortages.

An avalanche is a natural disaster that occurs when snow rapidly lows down a
mountain. During an avalanche, a combination of snow and ice (snowpack) is
formed.
An avalanche occurs when a layer of snow collapses and slides downhill.
Avalanches are caused by four factors: a steep slope, snow cover, a weak layer
in the snow cover, and a trigger. People caught in avalanches can die from
su focation, trauma, or hypothermia.

A wildfire, forest fire, bushfire, wildland fire, or rural fire is an unplanned,

uncontrolled, and unpredictable fire. e drier grasses, brush, and trees get,
the more likely they are to both catch fire and to stay burning. Forest fires are
increasing in Canada because of climate change. Over 8000 fires occur each
year in Canada.

A tornado is a violently rotating column of air that is in contact with both the
surface of the Earth and a cloud.Tornadoes can travel as fast as 60 mph. In
Canada, the majority of tornadoes pop up in Alberta, Saskatchewan and
Manitoba the so-called Prairie Provinces

Tropical storm with wind speeds of at least 74 miles (119 kilometers) per hour.
Typhoons are the same thing as hurricanes, but usually located in the Pacific
or Indian Ocean region.A typhoon is a mature tropical cyclone that develops
between 180° and 100°E in the Northern Hemisphere.
