ASSESSING MYSELF : PIPA ASSESSMENT
Assessment created by Professor Pierre Casse
Used with authorisation
Guidelines:
1) Please select in each pair of attributes the one which is most typical of the
way you usually behave/think/feel.
Respond spontaneously. Do not think too much. Do not answer what you would like
to do/be, but what you actually do/are. Think of the professional environment.
No pair is an either/or proposal.
Make your choice as spontaneously as possible.
There is no wrong answer.
2) Please complete the scoring sheet and draw your final result.
3) Results will be debriefed during class. Remember to take the scoring sheet
and drawing to class.

Drawing the scoring:
Draw your scoring by linking the 4 dots corresponding to each value driver.
It starts from 0 (zero) in the centre.
5
A score between 1 and 7 could mean that you are weak on that Value Driver and this
weakness may lead to the following challenges:
You do not use that Value Driver even when the situation in which you find
yourself requires it. It is better to know it and perhaps learn how to tap that
cultural opportunity.
There is a possibility that when you use it you are not very effective. This is
not your “cup of tea”. Be aware of your potential cultural shortcoming.
It is also possible that this low score can explain why you experience some
cross-cultural problem when relating to some people who may be strong
where you are weak. You are supposed to be complementary... in reality you
do not like each other and may reject each other.
A score between 8 and 15 is a sign of strenght. In a way, the best multicultural profile
is 10-10-10-10. If your scores are close to that range, then there is a good chance
that:
You are flexible and adaptable. It is not too difficult for you to adjust yourself
by switching around from one Value Driver to another according to various
situational requirements.
You are good at understanding people with different views and behaviours.
Perhaps (and be careful with this one) you are perceived by the people around
you as being ambiguous and unpredictable.
A score between 16 and 20 can be a source of difficulties, because:
Perhaps you are addicted to the Value Driver for which you got a score close
to 20 and whatever the situation in which you find yourself, you use that one
(but it is not necessarily the best one).
You are over-doing it and by so doing lose some of the benefits you are
supposed to get from tat Value Driver (too much of it is not automatically
good).
Perhaps you are too rigid and judge things, events and people according to
one Value Driver. This can seriously limit your capacity to function in a
multicultural environment.
