O-S-R'chive is -focused on- "Classic OSR" games similar to and compatible with early TSR-era RPGs 1.

• Understand that the hosting service I use is slow. It is also based in Malaysia, which has a
different set of laws concerning IP, meaning they don't readily give into DMCA requests. Some of
my material is a magnet for takedowns, and I don't intend to compromise content. If you're
having difficulty getting in or downloading, try it outside of peak hours in the States. After 00:00
UTC is a good bet. It shouldn't be a huge shock that this activity is best pursued under the cover
of night. Trying to download more than a few gb at a time will result in tears.

1OSR has become a contentious term. I generally agree with osrsimulacrum's "A Historical Look at the
OSR part V" (http://osrsimulacrum.blogspot.com/2021/12/a-historical-look-at-osr-part-v.html)'s
definitions. As a curator, I'm -obligated- to host what we both define as "Classic OSR" (simulacrums and
retro-clones), as well as the material it's based on and developed for (the original TSR D&D stuff).
But there's certainly material in the O-S-Rchive that's not OSR.
Think of this as bonus material you can take or leave. Most people get that, lots of others wonder why I
have "this" and not "that" and argue about it. The "OSR-Adjacent", "NuSR", and "not OSR just old"
outliers are included in the O-S-Rchive for many different reasons;
• because they're interesting developments by respected TSR luminaries (Lejendary Adv/Dangerous
Journeys, Met Alpha, etc),
• because they use systems similar to old D&D "with the serial numbers filed off" (Gamma world,
Star Frontiers, Tunnels & Trolls, etc),
• because they're iconic settings that started as D&D before growing into their own things (Arduin,
EPT),
• because they kept the light shining on the old ways throughout the dark 90s/early 2000s when
the gaming space considered them passe (Castles & Crusades, Hackmaster, DCC, etc) aka "the
grandfather clause",
• because no one else will host them and they'd be homeless (DragonQuest, Chivalry & Sorcery,
etc),
• because I just like them (Crimson Dragon Slayer, Ultraviolet Grasslands, Sharp Swords & Sinister
Spells, etc) and personally prefer them in my main gaming folder (which O-S-R is).
Other than these I steer clear of O5R/NuSR (most of which I don't have any use for and has it's own
trove anyway) and the ever-spreading DTRPG garbage fire the blog refers to as "Commercial OSR".
