Welcome to our class!
My name is Mrs. Addyman, and I will be your child’s teacher
this year. I know it will be a great year, and we will learn many
new things together!
Let me start by telling you a little about myself. I have been
with the district for almost eight years. This is my first year as
a teacher, and I am very excited as we begin our journey. I have
been married to my husband for 23 years. Together, we have
four children, three boys and a girl. We have been residents of
Burleson for 12 years, and we love living here. When I’m not
teaching, I love to spend time with my family and read.
We will have three classroom procedures this year that we will
use frequently. We will have callbacks that we choose together
as a class. These will be used to get students' attention during
the day. Another procedure we have will be “bubbles.” This
procedure will be mainly used when walking in the halls to
ensure we aren’t interrupting other students' learning. Finally,
we will use timers in our room to indicate when to switch
activities. The timers will be visual so students can see how
much time they have left on what they are doing.
Our class will follow the district grading policies. I will always
ensure students know how an assignment will be graded.
Specific projects, assessments, or activities will be considered
significant grades, usually taken at the end of a unit, grading
period, or semester. I will send out information well before
these take place, and students will have all the required study
material and rubrics with how they will be graded.
Other grades will come from things we do during class. There
will be participation grades that will simply be graded on
whether the student did them or not. There will be quizzes that
check for understanding. There will also be worksheets or
activities that will be graded to check for understanding.
I will always allow students the opportunity to redo, retake, or
turn in assignments within a certain amount of time. I will be
sure to share this time frame with students and you. When
assignments are resubmitted or turned in late, the maximum
grade will be a 70, a C.
All assignments throughout class will be turned in to our turn-
in bin, which is in the front of the class and is clearly labeled.
If the activity is on the Chromebook, I will share instructions
for turning it in.
I do not plan on students having homework in our class. If
there is homework, it will almost always be because students
did not finish the work during class.
If your student has any questions or things they would like to
discuss, I will ensure they are given time during the day to
speak with me.
You can email me anytime if you want to reach me with any
questions or concerns. I will post my email address below. I will
do my best to answer all emails within 24 hours. You may also
call during my conference time, which is daily from 10:00 –
10:45. To do this, you will contact the main number, which I will
list below. Once the receptionist answers, you ask for me, and
she will transfer your call. During this time, we can also
schedule conferences if you would prefer.
Thank you for sharing your children with me, and I look
forward to a beautiful year!
