For the second week of our class on Methods of Research and Statistics, I realized that creating a
research title is not that difficult as long as you follow the proper steps for it. Like the steps taught by our
professor, which made it easier for us to formulate a title for our action research. First, the professor asked
us to write a concept map where we would put the problems we encountered in connection with the
students. And I put all of the issues that I encountered during my five years of being a teacher, some of
them are the students being lazy, not interested in the class, always absent, failing grades, and many
others. I learned that when you create a title for action research, you first need to know what the problem
you have encountered in your class. Once you have identified the main problem you want to solve, you
will think of possible solutions to that problem. And then, when you have identified the problem and have
thought of intervention for it, you can now create an objective for the action research you will do. And
with that you can now make your research title.
In the next topic that we studied, which is the last part of chapter I Sir Bong discussed the
differences between Scope, Delimitions, and Limitations, where when we say scope, it refers to the depth
of the study that you will do and its time frame. The delimitation will determine the boundaries of the
study you will do, it is based on the researcher's decision as to what variables he will not include in his
research, and it narrows the scope to make it more manageable for the researcher's part. Limitation refers
to the validity and reliability of the study. If the delimitation is the variable that the researcher chooses not
to include, the limitation is the variables that the researcher cannot include because it no longer has
anything to do with the study.
As we move on to Chapter II of the research, which is the literature review, we defined the term
review. It is a summary that gathers the key components to create an overall picture of what is available.
and literature means major writings, especially scholarly writings. And if those two terms are
merged, they will encompass research results, theories that have been published or not, and
principles that have been developed by authorities, professionals, or specialists in their
professions. Since books are part of published resources and theories, we may also use them, but
I've learnt that doing so has some restrictions because they might be outdated or overtaken by
recent research. Journals is one also of the best reference to be use and helpful for locating
literature. I also discovered the benefits of reading literature. It is important that you read the
related literature in its entirety to find out if it has anything to do with the study you will be
doing. This section, in my opinion, can assist me better comprehend why I am conducting my
research or what are some potential hypotheses that might support my research. I gain
knowledge on how to include the authors' names in author- and information-prominent citations.
And Sir Bong emphasized that the best way to organize the studies is through thematic
organization, and for me I think that it is also the best way for me to organize my studies. I also
learned in this lesson the way on how to link each study by agreement and disagreement. I
learned also when to use present, past and present perfect form of verb when writing a study. And I
learnt that in order to know if you made a mistake or error in your studies, you must present it to your
friends so they can comment on it and tell you what should be altered or whether what you did was
appropriate. And one more of the most crucial procedures you ought to follow during the research process
is to keep on edit and edit and edit till everything is perfect.
