The document describes how to mount the Pan-Cinor 85 "Compact" zoom lens onto a Bolex H16 camera. It can be used alongside fixed focal length lenses of 10mm and 25mm. The zoom lens has controls for aperture, focus, and zooming between 17-85mm. It is smaller and lighter than other lenses, so it is well-suited for the H16 turret. The zoom lens renders colors slightly cooler, so an UV filter is recommended for color film. Proper mounting orientation and a tripod are also suggested for stable footage.

The Pan-Cinor 85 «Compact" is mount-
ed on the camera as follows.

Place the lens in a vertical position on

the turret and gently screw it into the
screw opening (fig. 1).

Check the position of the lens by look-

ing at it from the front of the camera.
The zoom lever should be downwards,
parallel to the side of the camera
(fig. 2).

If not, estimate its divergence from the

vertical and correct as follows: 2 '- .•~-~~,"'~--

remove the lens:

using the ring key supplied, turn the
threaded ring (fig. 3) in the appro-

cameras of other makes

The Pan-Cinor 85 «Compact" has a standard 'C'

mount (1" dia X 32 T. P. I. thread and lens seat!
. film plane dimension of 0.690" [17.52 mm]). It can
therefore be mounted on 16 mm cameras having
this type of lens mounting.
Important: It is advisable to use a tripod to ensure
camera stability. This is essential when using the
Pan Cinor at long focal lengths, especially above
50 rnrn.

Attachment supplied
with the Pan-Cinor 85 •• Compact»

Lens shade (supplied with the lens) essential for

shielding the front lens from any direct light, and
for holding filters (ASA series VII), (see illustration).
It must always be used.

the camera is not in use.
Turret locking plug: prevents any accidental dis-
placement of the turret.

A Close-up lens (with a focal length of 1 m) can

also be used for filming at distances down to 2 ft.
«Macro-Zoom» close-up attachment (D)
Depending on the focal length select-
ed, this attachment enables subject
areas of 30 X 40 mm (17 mm setting)
to 6 X 8 mm (85 mm setting) to be film-
ed. It mounts directly on the lens (E).
As the subject-to-film distances are
very short, focusing with the front
ring of the lens is not really effective.
It is advisable to film from a vertical
position and to place the subject on
a support that is easily adjusted for
height.
Hyper-Pan 0.8 x: This supplementary
lens converts your Pan-Cinor 85 « Com-

focal length of 13.6 mm. It multiplies
