CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
This study attempted to investigate the relationship between English language
self-efficacy and academic engagement of the BSED English major students.
Findings
Based on the results the summary of findings was provided:
1. The level of English Language Self-Efficacy BSED major in English students
revealed has an overall mean of 4.12 which can be described as high.
2. The level of Academic Engagement in English of BSED major in English
students has an overall mean of 3.97 which can be described as high.
3. The English Language Self-Efficacy has significant relationship between
Academic Engagement in English Language of BSED major in English
students with the p-value of that .000.
Conclusions
Based on the findings, the following conclusions were drawn:
1. The level English Language Self-Efficacy BSED major in English students is
high, with an overall mean of 4.12. This suggests that students experience a high
level of English language self-efficacy regarding their Academic engagement.
2. The level of Academic Engagement of the BSED major in English students is
also high, with an overall mean of 3.97. This indicates that students experience a
high level of Academic Engagement specifically related to English language self-
efficacy related activities or courses.
3. The study reveals a significant relationship between the English Language Self-
Efficacy and Academic Engagement of BSED major in English students, with a p-
value of .000. This suggests that higher levels of English language self-efficacy
are associated with increased Academic Engagement of these students.
In summary, BSED major in English students experience a high level of English
language self-efficacy and Academic Engagement. Moreover, the findings indicate
that the English language self-efficacy significantly relates to Academic Engagement
in these students. These findings emphasize the importance of English language
self-efficacy to the Academic Engagement of BSED major in English students.
Recommendations
Based on the findings, the following recommendations were drawn:
1. Support and Enhance Self-Efficacy: Since the study highlights high levels of
English language self-efficacy, it is crucial to maintain and enhance this positive
belief in students' abilities. Provide opportunities for students to engage in tasks that
reinforce their language skills and build their confidence further. Encourage them to
set challenging but attainable goals and celebrate their successes along the way.
2. Foster Academic Engagement: As the study indicates high levels of academic
engagement, it is important to continue nurturing this aspect among students. Create
a positive and stimulating learning environment that promotes active participation,
collaboration, and critical thinking. Incorporate interactive teaching methods, such as
group discussions, debates, and hands-on activities, to keep students engaged and
motivated in their English language learning.
3. Differentiate Instruction: Recognize that students may have varying levels of
English language proficiency and adjust instruction accordingly. Implement
differentiated instructional strategies to cater to students' diverse needs and abilities.
Offer additional support or enrichment activities based on individual requirements to
ensure continuous growth and engagement for all students.
4. Provide Enrichment Opportunities: Capitalize on students' high English language
self-efficacy and academic engagement by offering additional enrichment
opportunities beyond the regular curriculum. These may include language clubs,
competitions, language immersion programs, or extracurricular activities that allow
students to further develop their language skills and engage with the subject in a
meaningful way.
5. Strengthen Support Systems: Establish and strengthen support systems to
sustain students' high levels of English language self-efficacy and academic
engagement. This can be achieved by providing mentorship programs, counseling
services, and academic guidance to address any challenges or barriers students
may face. Encourage open communication between students, teachers, and parents
to create a collaborative network that supports and motivates students in their
language learning journey.
6. Continuous Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess students' progress and
provide timely feedback to help them monitor their growth and make necessary
improvements. Implement formative assessments that focus on students' strengths
and areas for development, and provide constructive feedback that helps them
enhance their English language skills and academic engagement.
7. Professional Development for Teachers: Offer professional development
opportunities for teachers to enhance their instructional strategies, assessment
techniques, and understanding of student motivation. Provide resources and training
to help teachers effectively support and nurture students' English language self-
efficacy and academic engagement.
By implementing these suggestions, institutions can foster a conducive
learning environment that supports students in English language self-efficacy and
Academic Engagement. Ultimately, this can promote their academic success and
overall well-being.
