Searching
Have a certain token you want more information on or just browsing the various collections, the
search system is a powerful tool to find what you are looking for.
There are several ways to search in this website. The easiest way would be to search using
keywords from the middle of the homepage.
For more detailed searches, start by clicking “Display Tokens” on the top of the page. This
brings up all the tokens for display but also has the more advance search tools.
The top four drop down boxes allows you to narrow the search by Token type, country, state, and
by personal catalogs (such as your own).
The three text boxes below that allow you to search by text.
The “Exact Phrase” text box will search for the text you put in, in the exact format that you put it
in.
The “All these words” text box is a slightly broader search that will disregard the format and
order of the words. For example: Searching “Ruger Post Exchange Fort” will bring back a result
of “Post / Exchange / Fort / Ruger” tokens as all words are taken into account when searching.
The final “One of these words” text box will include results for each individual words entered in
the box. For example: Searching “Fort Ruger” will bring back results with anything containing
“Fort” such as “Fort Morgan”, as well as anything containing “Ruger” such as “Kruger”
There are three green search buttons. The “Search” button will search with the criteria in the
dropdown boxes as well as the textboxes. The “Search State” will search only in the state in the
dropdown box. Finally the “Search All” will search all tokens with the textboxes and ignores the
selections in the dropdown boxes.
Tips for searching:
Contributing
All token contributions are greatly appreciated. To contribute, you first need to have a username
and need to be logged in. If you are not registered, doing so is free and painless.
Adding a new listing
Note: Prior to adding a new listing, search and make sure that there isn’t already one for
that token to prevent duplicate listings. If a listing already exist just add an inventory
rather than relisting it.
Add a new listing by clicking the “Contribute” link up at the top of the page. This will take you
to new listing input page.
Once on the new listing input page, the first thing to do is upload the images of the token. Add
the photos by clicking on the “Choose File” button and selecting the photo on your computer (the
images must be on your computer to be able to upload). After selecting BOTH the obverse and
reverse photos, click the “Upload Image” button.
Note: The obverse token photo and the reverse token photo should be separate and be
either BMP or JPEG files
Note: Choose BOTH the obverse and the reverse photo files before hitting “Upload Image”
You can choose to add more information about your specific token. If you do not own the image,
make sure you credit your source.
Note: Only upload images you have permission to use
Fill out all the other textboxes and leave the ones that don’t apply or don’t make any sense blank.
For the Obverse and Reverse text, please use the standardized naming convention shown at the
end of this guide.
Note: the Country, State, and City boxes may already be filled out from where you were
searching last so make sure you fill them out appropriately.
Adding an Image to an existing listing
Many listings have been added but require an image. Listings without images will look like the
listing below.
To add an image to the listing, simply click on the Image wanted link in blue. This will take you
to the detailed listing of the token. To add the photo, click the “Add Inventory” button. This will
bring you to the add inventory page.
Add the photos by clicking on the “Choose File” button and selecting the photo on your
computer (the images must be on your computer to be able to upload). After selecting BOTH the
obverse and reverse photos, click the “Upload Image” button.

When done adding all information, click the “Save” button. Both the purchase price and
inventory notes can be chosen to be kept public or private by selecting or deselecting the tick box.
After adding your inventory, it is possible to edit any inventory you added by clicking the “Edit
Inventory” button.

Appendix
Standard conventions for text descriptions
1. Obverse side should be the one with the business name. If no Business Name is present,
then the side with the Proprietor’s name is used.
2. Show new lines or line breaks with /
3. Do not describe any pictures or logos on the tokens. This is an image catalog, only words
should be in the description and any figures or pictures can be seen in the photos
4. When entering the inscription on the token, read from left to right, top to bottom
5. When entering denominations such as 1.00, enter it as “1.00”. Entering other formats
such as “1oo” or “1 00” will create problems for searching and sorting. All formats such
as underlined or high or low “0” can be seen in the image and is not necessary for the text
description.
