Introduction
Regression Is A Statistical Method That Helps Us Understand And Predict
The Relationship Between Variables .
It Describes How One Variable (Dependent Variable) Changes As Another
variable (Independent Variable) Changes.
LIMIT :-[ -1 ≤ 0 ≤1 ]
Example: Predicting Salary Based On Years Of Experience,
Predicting Exam grade On Study Hours,
Predicting Resale Price Based On Vehicle Age.
The Method Of Least Square.
Line of regression Y on X
If we minimise the deviations of the
points from the line measured along y-
axis we get a line which is called the
line of regression of Y on X. Its
equation is written in the from Y = a +
bx. This line is used for estimating the
value of Y for a given value of X. The
equation of the line of regression of y
on x must be written with y on the left
hand side and x and the constant term
on the right hand side.
2)Line of regression x on y
On the other hand, the line of regression of X on Y is given by X = c + dY which is used to predict
the unknown value of variable X using the known value of variable Y.
Property Of Coefficient Of Regression
Coefficient of correlation is the geometric mean between
The coefficient of regression.
R = bxy . byx
