The submission is in the form of an individual report. The report should be written concisely to perform all
the required contents as follows.
You are required to make use of headings, paragraphs and sub-sections as appropriate. All work must be
supported with research and referenced correctly using the Harvard referencing system (or an alternative
referencing system). You will also need to provide a bibliography using the Harvard referencing system (or
an alternative referencing system). Inaccurate use of referencing may lead to issues of plagiarism if not
applied correctly.
You must use font Calibri size 12, paragraph spacing at 6 pt. and multiple line spacing at 1.3 pt. Margins
must be: left: 1.25 cm; right: 1 cm; top: 1 cm and bottom: 1 cm and number the pages. The cover page of the
report has to be the Assignment front sheet 1 (to be attached with this assignment brief).
Students are compulsory to submit the assignment in due date and in a way requested by the Tutor. The
form of submission will be a soft copy posted on https://cms.btec.edu.vn/. Remember to convert the word
file into PDF file before the submission on CMS.
The recommended word limit for the factsheets is 1,000–2,000 words, although you will not be penalized
for going under or exceeding the total word limit.

Organization and Role
You are working as legal expert at the international investment fund, Dragon Capital Fund. This year, your
company’s business plan is to invest in the UK and a new market, Vietnam as well.
Your job is to make deep research of the legal system in these markets, with respect to: sources of law, the
role of government and parliament in making law and how the court applied the law in resolving the dispute.

Content 2: The content may be specified as follows:
Source of law:
✓ The sources of law may be in the UK legal system or in Vietnam. Examples may be required.
✓ Difference between Case law and Statutory law is required or examples are asked to provide.
Purposes of law:
✓ Distinguish law with other regulations in society: Ethics, internal regulation of companies, schools or regulations of associations.
Giving examples as well.
✓ Examples of law or functions of law may be required. E.g. Explain the function of the Enterprise Law in Vietnam 2020.
Content 5: The content may be specified as follows:
The role of Government or Parliament in making law may be in Vietnam or in the UK.
Examples of the law (first legislation) or sub-law (secondary legislation) may be required. E.g. Giving examples of on specific law and
Decree in Vietnam
The legal suit or the case may be heard in Vietnam or in the UK. The same regulation in local law may be required to provide.
Apart from these, all other content needs to follow the instructions below.
Your task is to make a report of what you have conducted for the research in the following themes:
1. Introduce the purpose and main contents of the report from the perspective stated in the Scenario.
2. Explain different sources of law as after:
(i) The definition of law in general
(ii) The purpose of law
(iii) Main sources of law in the UK or in Vietnam.
3. Evaluate the effectiveness of the legal system in terms of recent reform and developments, with respect to
the UK legal system. Specific examples must be provided to support the analysis.
4. Provide a coherent and critical evaluation of the legal system and law, with evidence drawn from a range
of different relevant examples to support judgments, with respect to the source of law in Vietnam or
another local law system (for foreign student). Justify how these sources of law contribute to remain the

order of the country‘s society effectively. (The student choose one specific or all sources of law to
justify).
5. Explain the role of government in law making and how statutory and common law is applied in the
justice courts.
(i) Explain the role of Government in law making by explain the functions of secondary legislation or
sub-law, and distinguish with the first legislation or the law.
(ii) Explain the role of Parliament in law- making with respect the function of the Parliament to
produce the statutory law, and the process of making new law of the Parliament.
(iii) Choose one case/ legal suit in Vietnam or in the UK, which was completely resolved, for
demonstrating how the court applies the law, and explain the case/legal suit as follows:
Describe the FACTS/Background of the case;
Point out the LEGAL ISSUE;
Summarize the HOLDINGS/ DECISIONS of the court
Identify which LAW (Precedent, Law, Code or Act) was applied by the court in his/her
Decision (name the law only) and clarify that the applied law is statutory law or case law.
6. Conclude to summarize all the key findings and analysis must be presented.
