3.0 DEVELOPMENT OF THE SYSTEM

Central Air Conditioning System Description

Each building shall have dedicated chiller plant room to cater the chilled water requirements of
the respective building. The central air conditioning system shall consist of water chilling units,
multiple primary chilled water pumps, secondary chilled water pumps with variable frequency
drives, air handling units and fan coil units, chilled water piping with accessories, air distribution

Air conditioning shall be carried out by Chilled water system with Water cooled chillers. Chillers
supported with necessary vibration isolation to avoid transmission of vibration to ceiling slab
shall be located at the plant. Products shall be Designed, Tested, Rated and Certified in
and occupied floors below. Plant machinery in the plant room shall be placed on PCC/ RCC
accordance with, and installed in compliance with applicable sections of the following
foundation and shall be provided with anti-vibratory supports.
Standards and Codes:
1. ARI 550/590 - Water Chilling Packages Using the Vapor Compression Cycle
2. ARI 370 – Sound Rating of Large Outdoor Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Equipment

The cooling tower has been selected to meet the demands of varying periods. When the cooling
demand varies, the balancing valve provided for the cooling tower will adjust accordingly to
satisfy the cooling requirements. And fans of cooling towers are provided with variable
frequency drives which measures condenser water temperatures to meet the varying demands. A motor without a VFD operates at a constant speed. When full power isn’t needed, the motor
