1. INTRODUCTION
(Mention the purpose of the study, background, motivation and goals of
your work, a brief review of related literature and studies (most recent)
definition of specialized terms or abbreviations to be used, i.e.
Instructional Electronic Device (IED). Consider it as a short story, making
it convincing that the reader cares to read about it. Think of the
introduction as following a funnel shape. What is the larger, real- world
context of your work, then narrow down to the specific concept or theory
and proceed to the local scenario that gives justification to your study with
a brief summary of the scope and delimitation and its beneficiaries. Then
present the statement of the problem (SOP), allowed as sub-title or
research questions before illustrating the theoretical/conceptual framework
(sub-title) which shows the flow of the study. Finally, if the paper rotates
on the grounded theory, experimental or correlational, and hypothesis is
needed
(The following are sub-titles in this section)
Background of the Study - A Brief Justification why do you need
to study your paper.
Literature Review - A Justification and in depth explanation of
each component of your paper. It clarifies and proves the
necessity to conduct this research.
Theoretical Framework (If Possible this can be Optional)
Conceptual Framework - Blueprint of your Paper.
Purpose of the Study - The rationale.
Statement of the Problem (Commonly for Evaluations, Analysis
or Comparisons) or Statement of Objectives (Commonly for
Grounded Theories or Experiments).
Hypothesis (If Comparing or Experimenting if dealing with 2 or
more variables).
2. METHODS
(The following are sub-titles in this section)
Research Design – What approach will the researcher to if it can
be Quantitative or Qualitative or both.
Research Locale and Sampling Procedures – the target area of
the research and specifying how many samples are gathered in the
research. It also mentions how who are the
respondents/Participants or Subjects of this Research (not
applicable for arm chair thesis if it rotates on grounded theory,
literary criticism and something relating to theory crafting).
Data Gathering Procedures - step by step process in gathering
your data. (SOP process of answering).
Scope and Delimitation - Specifying the specific topic tackling to
the problem.
Research Instrument - Tools or material in gathering your data
Data Management and Analysis - This one focuses on how will
you manage your data before, during and after the research. This
also gives information and highlight in respect with RA 10173 or
the Data Privacy Act.
Ethical Considerations - This one focuses on the proper
protocols in gathering data when involving respondents,
participants or subjects. (Not Applicable in Arm Chair Researches
if it rotates on grounded theory, literary criticism and something
relating to theory crafting).
Statistical Analysis - the treatment you are going to use. Not
applicable for qualitative researches.
3. RESULTS
(Present the results in the same order as the SOP or research questions,
simply and clearly and logically, most to least, biggest to smallest, etc.
Use figures, graphs, tables to present the data. While tables present
accurate numbers, figures show trends and features. Do not present the
same data in tables and graphs.)
(The following are sub-titles in this section)
Results
*Qualitative Results - For Statistical Data Results
*Quantitative Results - For Quality Data Results
* - This can be a separate section if your data is quasi experimental or
mixed method approach.
4. DISCUSSION
(Frequently combined with results especially in descriptive
methods/quantitative. In some cases, like case studies/qualitative, results
and discussion are presented separately.
It is in this section that researchers/authors draw out the “story” that the
data tell. Give meaning and implication of the results. Do not repeat what
has already been said in the review of literature. Explain the theoretical
background of the observed results. End your discussion with a closing
summary about the significance of the work.)
(The following are sub-titles in this section)
Discussion - Consisting of the Interpretation of the Texts base on
the findings.
**Statement of the Problem/Objectives Analysis - This is
where you put your Answers in each SOP or SOO formulated on
your research.
5. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
(each conclusion is briefly stated, numbered and aligned to the results in
each research question. Likewise, the recommendations are brief, doable,
clear and aligned to each conclusion. Suggest future research that is
planned or needed to follow up)
6. REFERENCES (APA Referencing format) - This are your sources in a
Bibliography setting. This will follow the 7th Edition APA
7. APPENDICES - Permission Letters, Questionnaires or Tools used in
Research.
8. CURRICULUM VITAE
MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION (FORMAT AND STYLE)
In the preparation of the final manuscript, care shall be taken to ensure that the
following specifications are followed:
- Paper and Printing Specifications
Print the final copy with a laser printer using only one side of a standard-
sized CHCCI template (8.5 x 11 inches)
- Font Specifications
12-point Arial font is suggested throughout the thesis manuscript except
when compressing a large table.
- Spacing
Observe double-space text; while single-spacing for long quotations,
table and figure captions, and similar special materials (e.g., table
legend). Type triple-spaced from the top margin, centered, boldfaced,
and in ALL CAPS all headings of the preliminary section (except the
Copyright Page and Title Page) and all chapter titles.
- Margins
Leave 1.5 inches for the left margin to allow for binding and trimming
and 1 inch for the top, bottom, and right margins
- Pagination
Paginate the preliminaries by using lowercase Roman numerals at the
upper right corner using Arabic numerals. Number all the pages
consecutively starting on the second page of each chapter.
The first page of each chapter, though counted, shall not be numbered.
Type the page number at the upper right-hand corner of the paper (i.e.,
tables and figures).
- Preliminaries
The preliminaries include the copyright page, title page, certification-
and-approval sheet, certification of originality, acknowledgments,
abstract, table of contents, list of tables, and list of figures using Roman
Numerals.
- Copyright Page
Include a Copyright Page in each final copy to show that the research
has been copyrighted and put it before the Title Page.
- Cover and Title Page
Follow the instructions on the attached sample-form pages. Note which
items are in ALL CAPS and which are not.
Certification-and-Approval Sheet
A Certification-and-Approval Sheet is an attestation by the Thesis
Evaluation Committee that the paper has been examined and
recommended for the oral examination.
The word CERTIFICATION is typed triple-spaced from the top
margin, centered, boldfaced, and in ALL CAPS.
The APPROVAL contains the formal approval or commendation
of the Panel on Oral Examination (three-panel members plus a
Chair who heads the Evaluation Committee.
- Acknowledgments
This is typed triple-spaced from the top margin, centered, boldfaced,
and in ALL CAPS the heading ACKNOWLEDGMENTS. Double-space
the text that begins three single spaces from the heading.
- Certification of Originality
Type triple-spaced from the top margin, centered, boldfaced, and in ALL
CAPS the heading CERTIFICATION OF ORIGINALITY. Double-space
the text that begins three spaces from the heading. All copies to be
submitted shall contain an original Certification of Originality bearing the
actual (not photocopied) signature of the researcher
- Abstract
An abstract is a brief descriptive short statement, synthesis, or summary
of the research work. is designed to give the reader. The main objective
of the study is a brief description of the research method, major findings,
conclusions or main arguments, and recommendations. It is a mini
version of your paper.
The heading ABSTRACT is typed triple-spaced from the top margin,
centered, boldfaced, and in ALL CAPS
The abstract, which shall not exceed 250 words, is double-spaced,
except the title of the thesis or dissertation which is typed single-spaced.
A minimum of five (5) keywords shall be written on the lower part of the
abstract page with the name of the degree-granting institution "Manual
V. Gallego Foundation Colleges" and the title of the program/discipline
being constant keywords.
- Table of Contents
The Table of Contents comes after the abstract. Type triple-spaced from
the top margin, centered, boldfaced, and in ALL CAPS the heading
TABLE OF CONTENTS. Type double-spaced from the heading. It shall
list all elements of the preliminaries, chapter titles, main headings,
references, and appendices. The beginning page number of each
section is indicated along the right margin. The numbering of the
