SCHEDULE OF RATES
(FOR BUILDING AND ROADS)
INDEX
[b] Rate as per schedule items 252 in chapter IV (Earthwork) is to be followed only with the
written approval of the Executive Engineer and after his inspection of site.
5 Chapter VI : Brick work : Rates including cutting of bricks as necessary for proper bond
and for forming all splays, angles etc and also for rounding all exterior and interior angles if
so required. The brickwork is to measured in thickness as mentioned in the terms and
conditions of the agreement and in its specifications.
[i] Tolerance up to 2mm may be allowed in any or all dimentions of the finished wood
work without any deduction in measurement of the size specified, unless net measurement
are specifically prescribed in any special work requiring exact sizes without any tolerance.
No tolerance shall be permissible in the case of thickness of ply.
[ii] Variations exceeding 2mm and up to 8mm. In and or all cross sectional dimensions in
the case of wood-work wrought, framed and fixed and upto 4 mm. in the case of thickness
of door and window shutters may be permitted but the measurement should then be
recorded for the actual sizes, not exceeding the sizes specified, unless exact net sizes are
specifically prescribed in any special work.
[iii] Woodwork having variation of more than 8 mm. in cross-sectional dimensions in case
of wrought wood-work, and more than 4mm. in case of thickness of door and window
shutter be rejected unless allowed by the written orders of the Executive Engineer who will
record the reasons for the same under intimation to the Superintending Engineer
concerned.
[iv] The tolerances and restrictions specified above shall not be applicable to the length of
scantilings or to the breadth and height. In case of door and window leaves. they will be
same as actual.
[c] Fitting : As communicated in Chief Engineer's letter No. 6639 CBRG/72 CW/56, dated
December 20, 1963 and 3093/72 PW/56, dated June 4, 1964, the following shall be kept
in view for payment of fittings as per S.I.Nos.
(i) The rates provided in these items are for estimating purposes. Fitting with screws
should be supplied departmentally, the fixing and adjustment charges are already included
in various shutter items.
(ii) The measurement of fixed portion such as fanlights which do not require any fitting are
not done for the purpose of payments under fittings.
(iii) Almirah shutters are measured separately and rates worked out by analysis as per
actual fitting.
(iv) The measurement for fitting in clerestory window shall be done separately and rate
worked out on the basis of analysis based on actual cost of fitting.
7 Chapter X: Mild steel and lron work : Bar reinforcement shall be measured in terms of
IS-1200 -(Part VIII) - 1967 which read as follows "Bar reinforcement shall be measured by
weight in kilograms and shall include cutting to lengths. hooked ends, cranking or bending
(Straight or spiral); no allowence shall be made in the weight for rolling margin authorised
overlaps shall be measured. Cost of binding wire is included in this item.
8 Chapter XI : Roof work :
[a] Rates provided in the items of R.C.C. and R.B. works are exclusive of the cost of steel to
be used and its bending.
[b] As per Chief Engineer's circular No. 4 P.W. dated April 25, 1967, the R.C.C. items in
chajjas and sunshades etc. include construction of drip courses and no extra payment of
the same is to be allowed. The Executive Engineers should provide items in bill of
quantities accordingly.
9 Chapter XII : [Plaster and pointing] : Plaster shall be measured on length and breadth or
height of the wall or surface.
No deduction from area of plaster shall be made for small size openings up to an area of 3.0
Sq. meter such as doors, windows and ventilators, etc. on one face of the wall when both
faces are plastered. No extra rate is to be allowed for rounding of corners external and
internal junction of roofs and ceilings with walls. In case of plaster on inside and pointing
on the outside, no deduction will be made in plaster work, while the entire area of opening
will be deducted from pointing work. In case of large size openings the area of the opening
will be deducted on both sides, and the actual plaster or pointing done on the pillers,
soffits, and jambs shall be measured.
10 Chapter XV : Painting and Distempering shall be measured as follows:
(i) Moulded work of all kinds such as cornices, etc. and doors and windows shall be
measured flat.
(ii) Both sides area of glazed (Ventilators) painted, shall be measured as 1½ time of the
single flat area. Expanded metal, iron gates similar work will be measured as ½ of the
12 Conttractor's profit has been allowed in all items except on cost of cement and steel which
are generally issued departmentally. However, if the work is executed departmentally on
muster rolls, no deduction for contractor's profit shall be made in the items of labour rates
for assessment of output of labour achieved
Condition No. 1
It will be necessary for the contractor of make use of the machine i.e. C.C. mixer, lime pan
mixer. If the work have done without using mixer machines then either 10% deduction in
rates will be made or contractor will have to add 10% extra cement from norms at his own
cost.
Condition No. 2
It will be the responsibiliity of the contractor for carriage of water upto the site of the work.
Condition No. 3
Wherever the word, fine sand occurs in this schedule of rates, it will mean the sand of
fineness modulus 1.25. Sand, which has lower fineness modulus will be blended with
coarse sand in suitable proportions to achieve this fineness modulus.
Condition No. 4
For all works executed above G.F.over all rate will be increased by 1% per floor
