coronavirus called Severe Acute Respiratory
Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2;
formerly known as 2019-nCoV), which was first
discovered in Wuhan City, Hubei Province,
China, during the respiratory illness outbreak.
Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large disease family
that can cause everything from a common cold
to more serious illnesses. A novel coronavirus
(nCoV) is a new strain that has never been
found in humans before. COVID-19 was the
name given to the new virus. They confirmed
the first Covid-19 case in the Philippines on
January 21, 2020. The Philippines is one of the
countries most vulnerable to the coronavirus.
Metro Manila has been placed under lockdown,
with the rest of Luzon and several localities to
follow. President Rodrigo Duterte signed
Proclamation No. 922 on March 8, 2022,
declaring a State of Public Health Emergency in
the Philippines due to proven COVID-19 local
transmission cases. The declaration of a State
of Public Health Emergency requires the public
to follow the government’s response processes,
including the allocation of resources to prevent
virus spread. The “Bayanihan to Heal as One
Act” (RA 11469) was enacted into law on March
25, 2020, declaring a state of national
emergency across the entire Philippines and
granting the Chief Executive certain powers to
allow for greater flexibility in reacting to the
COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Department of Health’s daily

updates, the number of confirmed COVID-19
cases in the Philippines had risen to over
70,000 by the end of July. It has been years
since the lockdowns were implemented, but

rising. According to WHO, there were 3,687,567
confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines
between 3 January 2020 and 13 May 2022, with
60,452 deaths. There have been 147,623,883
vaccination doses given out. With these data

would given a grade of 5.00 because it
demonstrates a failing covid response, as many
medical personnel died and had anxiety as a
result of the absence of support and health
system. It also affect the economic
