LIVING TO CHANGE

Learning Objective
By the end of this unit, you will be able to describe personal changes.

A. Let’s Learn
I. Look at the picture and answer the following questions.

II. The following is a list of vocabulary related to the personal changes. Match the definitions (a-

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed our lives. Governments are taking precautionary measures to
spread this infection of novel corona virus. In this emerging society one thing is also evolving which
is our Education system. Colleges, Universities and schools are closed with no certainty to when it
will be open. Though there is need to adopt new changes in education system. Technology has
become the life saver for the students in this time. There are several set of guidelines and plans issued
by the government. The National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) and Central
Board of secondary Education (CBSE) for this purpose. Online classes, entrance tests, Boards
examinations, admissions, competitive examinations are the new normal for India. E leanings are the
new sources for both students and teachers. The sources which are strictly prohibited to be brought up
in the schools and colleges are now the only medium through which teachers can interact with their
students.

The lecture videos, digital edition of textbook and links to the other study material has been provided
to all the students. E- Learning found out to be more flexible to the students to grab the knowledge.
With the proper utilization of technology one can learn and grow during this pandemic situation.
Though only the private sectors have the facilities to provide E-learning to the children. The
government schools are still not having that measures through which they can provide each and every
student the facility of E-learning. However apart from learning many other things also developed
among the students like working for the companies, doing online internships.

Content writing, web developers, data entry managements, social media management are opening
work online. These online platforms help the students to explore their potentials that by the end of
their courses they will end up finding jobs and working experiences. This online mode of education is
a great solution to fill the void space between the teachers and students due to this virus spread.

It allows students to attend classes from any location of their choice. Teachers can now reach out to
more students who can be from different states also. Online lectures can be recorded and later used by
the students for study material when they want to learn for it at the time of their comfort.

Students attendance are improved as it can be taken from home or location of their choice they are
present more with respect to the physical present in schools and colleges. Now chances are less that
they will miss the lessons. It also reduces traveling resources or other expenses. The student had
become self-directed learner as they can any time in a day. It is easy for them to choose their mood of
study and time of study. Though they have easily access to all the study material and lectures
delivered.

II. Speaking
Form pairs with a partner. Each person will take a few minutes to think about significant
personal changes they have experienced. Consider changes related to moving to a new place,
changing schools, significant shifts in personal beliefs or habits, overcoming challenges, or
notable achievements. Decide who will be the interviewer and who will be the interviewee
first. After the first round, you will switch roles. The interviewer should ask questions about
the interviewee’s past personal changes. Example questions include:

 What was a significant change you experienced in your life?


 How did you manage this change?
 What did you learn from this experience?

Each pair will share a brief summary of what they learned about how their partner has
experienced and managed change

Take Home Assignment


Before you start writing, think about how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted your learning.
Consider the differences in your study habits, classroom environment, use of technology, and
interactions with teachers and classmates before and after the pandemic.
Make a list of these changes to organize your thoughts. After that, draft one paragraph to
explain the changes in your learning after the pandemic started. It may answer the following
questions :Have you had to adapt to online classes? Are there new tools or technologies you
now use regularly? How have your interactions with teachers and classmates changed?
