IV. Course Objective
Projects are subject to various categories of risks. The risk that project will not be completed
within time specified, with quality standard expected of the deliverables, the risk that projects
cost more than the initial budget proposed and many others. This course therefore, is designed to
deal with project risk, Quality management, monitoring, controlling, evaluation and termination
of various types of projects. It will provide students the knowledge and skills in the area of
effective utilization of resources to achieve project objectives. Specifically, upon successful
completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Make qualitative and quantitative analysis of project risk and know ways to respond to
the risks peculiar to projects
2. Apply the knowledge of quality management to different types of projects
3. Understand how to monitor project in progress and make earned value analysis
4. Apply information obtained from monitoring to control projects
5. Comprehend the types and purposes of project audit
6. Outline the varieties of project Termination and the steps in project closure

VI. Mode of Delivery
The participant centered approach will be adopted in facilitating teaching and learning. This
adult teaching methodology will ensure that participants approach the entire course in a friendly
and experiential learning environment in which they relate to every aspect of the course with
their relevant work experiences. Lectures, case studies, and plenary discussions will be used to
bring the experiences of others in this vast field of application to bear on the entire teaching and
learning session. Group discussions and simulation exercises will also be used to encourage
interactions and idea sharing. Participants will be required to use the knowledge acquired to
assess past projects they have designed as well as proposals prepared in the past so as to
determine areas needing improvement. These will be very important lessons that will guide all
future practices in this area and reinforce new attitudes.
