In today's competitive landscape, product quality stands as a critical determinant for a business's
longevity and success. The market not only demands top-tier products at competitive prices but
also expects organizations to uphold impeccable quality standards efficiently and economically.
As customers become more discerning, their emphasis shifts towards comprehensive quality
systems rather than mere reputations. Furthermore, the evolving product dynamics, characterized
by a transition from high-priced, low-volume items to their high-volume, cost-effective
counterparts, necessitate a stringent focus on minimizing internal costs associated with subpar
quality. Compounding this is the escalating intricacy of products, elevating reliability prerequisites
for component suppliers. Ultimately, amidst intensifying competition, the bar for customer
satisfaction continues to rise, amplifying expectations and underscoring the paramountcy of
product excellence.
2. Reasons to learn TQM in today's era
In the era of the 4.0 revolution, a universal shift toward enhancing product and service quality is
evident across organizations, encapsulated by the overarching model of Total Quality Management
(TQM). While specific methodologies and strategies may vary, the core objective remains
consistent: optimizing resources by mitigating risks and executing tasks efficiently and effectively.
TQM represents an ongoing commitment to identifying and minimizing manufacturing errors,
thereby refining supply chain operations, enhancing the customer experience, and ensuring
workforce proficiency through rigorous training. Central to TQM are widely accepted definitions
within organizations, such as viewing quality as synonymous with "customer satisfaction" or as
the "fitness for use" of a product or service.

1. About TQM
Total Quality Management (TQM) is a comprehensive management approach aimed at
improving the quality and performance of an organization's products, services, processes, and
overall operations. Rooted in principles that prioritize customer satisfaction and continuous
improvement, TQM emphasizes a proactive, holistic, and systematic approach to quality
management.
2. Early TQM framework

The early framework of Total Quality Management (TQM) originated in the mid-20th century and
evolved from various quality movements and philosophies. The foundational elements of the early

TQM framework encompassed several key principles and practices that emphasized quality
excellence, continuous improvement, customer focus, and organizational excellence. Some of the
core components of the early TQM framework include:

Culture:
In an organizational culture centered on quality, core values underscore the importance of
customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and perpetual enhancement, fostering an
environment of trust, open communication, and empowerment. Leadership plays a pivotal role by
exemplifying unwavering dedication to quality, setting clear objectives, and cultivating a
conducive atmosphere for quality-driven initiatives. Furthermore, the implementation of key
performance indicators (KPIs) specific to quality enables systematic evaluation and facilitates
targeted improvement efforts, ensuring alignment with overarching quality objectives and

Process:

deployment (QFD) facilitates the translation of customer expectations into tangible product and
service specifications, ensuring alignment with market demands. Additionally, the failure mode
and effects analysis (FMEA) methodically identifies potential risks and evaluates their

objectives. Complementing the QMS, the performance management system meticulously monitors
progress towards quality milestones and discerns areas warranting enhancement. Additionally,

Teams:
Teams are central to the principles of Total Quality Management (TQM), serving pivotal roles in
various dimensions: Cross-functional collaboration unites individuals from diverse departments,

Empowering teams with decision-making authority and resources fosters engagement, propelling

3. ISO 9001:2015 quality management system


ISO 9001 is one of the international standards for quality management systems and is a part of
ISO 9000 developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), a non-
international organization headquartered in Switzerland.
ISO 9001:2015 is an upgraded version of the international standard than ISO 9001:2008.

The ISO 9001:2015 standard delineates criteria for establishing a quality management
system that encompasses internal and external contexts, risk analysis, and preventive measures.
This standard empowers businesses to cultivate a customer-centric, transparent, and compliant
framework while scientifically standardizing processes and procedures to elevate product and
service quality. By facilitating ongoing evaluation and enhancement, ISO 9001:2015 enables
organizations to better align with customer expectations, bolstering trust and brand reputation
through international certification. Additionally, adherence to this standard streamlines operations,
reduces costs, and enhances efficiency by eliminating subpar processes and products, fortifying
business resilience and competitiveness.

4. ISO 14001:2015 - Environmental Management System (EMS)


ISO 14001:2015 certification is a process of verifying that an organization's Environmental
Management System (EMS) meets the requirements of the ISO 14001:2015 standard. An
Environmental Management System (EMS) is a set of policies, procedures, and practices that help
an organization to reduce its environmental impacts, comply with relevant laws and regulations,
and achieve its environmental objectives. By obtaining ISO 14001:2015 certification, an
organization demonstrates its commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability, and
gains recognition and trust from its stakeholders and customers.

The ISO 14001:2015 certification offers multifaceted advantages to organizations,


encompassing reductions in waste, resource consumption, and pollutant emissions. By fostering
efficient resource utilization and waste minimization, businesses can realize cost savings while
bolstering their environmental stewardship. Additionally, achieving this certification elevates
reputation, instills stakeholder trust, ensures risk management, and facilitates compliance with

To attain ISO 14001:2015 certification, organizations must adhere to specific criteria and
undergo a rigorous audit process conducted by an accredited certification body. This certification,
valid for three years with periodic surveillance audits, necessitates the establishment and
implementation of an Environmental Management System (EMS) aligned with the standard's
requirements. Key components include setting environmental objectives and targets within the
EMS framework, ensuring personnel competence, awareness, and effective communication.
Additionally, organizations must continually monitor, evaluate, and enhance their environmental
performance, coupled with conducting internal audits, management reviews, and obtaining
external validation from an accredited third-party entity to affirm compliance with the ISO
14001:2015 standards.

5. ISO 45001:2018 - Occupational Health And Safety Management Systems

ISO 45001:2018 is an international standard that specifies requirements for an occupational
health and safety (OH&S) management system. The standard establishes criteria for an OH&S
policy, objectives, planning, implementation, operation, auditing and review. Key elements
include leadership commitment, worker participation, hazard identification and risk assessment,
legal and regulatory compliance, emergency planning, incident investigation and continual
improvement.

To secure ISO 45001:2018 certification, organizations must adhere to specific prerequisites,


including the formulation of an Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) policy and objectives
that resonate with the organization's context, scope, and strategic trajectory. Implementation of an
OH&S management system, structured around the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle, is paramount,
encompassing all stipulated standard requirements. Additionally, organizations are mandated to
align with pertinent legal and OH&S-related obligations while fostering active participation and
consultation from workers and pertinent stakeholders within the OH&S management framework.

Certification offers a range of advantages to organizations, including enhanced employee


safety through the mitigation of workplace illnesses and injuries. It instills stakeholder confidence,
underscoring the organization's unwavering commitment to prioritizing worker health and safety.
Additionally, by minimizing absences and operational downtime due to accidents, certification
bolsters productivity. Organizations also stand to benefit from reduced insurance expenses,
stemming from decreased claim risks and legal liabilities, while concurrently ensuring risk
reduction through proactive hazard identification, control measures, and adherence to legal
regulations.

III. COMPANY ANALYSIS


1. Culture
Corporate culture includes core values, behaviors, attitudes implemented by members and
leadership in the organization. Corporate culture is reflected in regulations, such as working hours,
employee benefits, office layout, dress, hiring decisions, customer satisfaction and many other
aspects. The culture of the business plays an important role in creating the value of common belief
in the sustainable development of the business, playing a role in promoting, orienting and ensuring
the unique characteristics that cannot be copied for each business.
Vinfast pays great attention to corporate culture because the fact that members in the organization,
work and operate in accordance with the corporate culture is decisive to the success of the business.
Therefore, when building a corporate culture, Vinfast has decided to focus on developing human
resource thinking first according to the core values and philosophy and guideline of the business
"Tin, Tam, Tri, Speed, Tinh, Nhan", each individual in the business is always constantly learning
and developing, Every individual is responsible for what he or she does
Strategy to build VinFast corporate culture: VinFast has developed a strategy to build a corporate
culture that promotes creativity and innovation. The company facilitates the development of its

talents through training programs and promotion opportunities. VinFast also creates a diverse
working environment and respects the contributions of each individual.

company encourages employees to think outside the box and propose new ideas to create modern
automotive products that meet market needs.
Quality and performance: VinFast attaches great importance to the quality and performance of its
products. The company is committed to providing vehicles with the best quality, meeting safety
standards and meeting high technical requirements.
Sustainability and greenness: VinFast focuses on developing environmentally friendly car
products. The company aims to minimize negative impacts on the environment through the use of
green technologies, material recycling and efficient resource management.
Teamwork: VinFast's corporate culture values teamwork and collaboration. The company creates
conditions for employees to work together, share knowledge and experience to achieve common
goals.
2. Communication
The continuous communication and exchange in the work of individuals belonging to
organizations and departments in the system helps the enterprise system to operate closely, prevent
problems from arising and ensure problems are detected and resolved in the most timely manner,
convenient for management and helps individuals better visualize what they need to do.
To improve management efficiency for businesses, Vinfast has implemented a strategy of
standardization and simplification in operations, namely the most detailed and effective employee
management by clearly dividing the work plan for each employee according to each department,
Each department will be responsible for managing its employees. In addition, Vinfast has stratified
the employee system in the enterprise to easily manage ... The standardization of Vinfast's
management is also reflected in the strict management mechanism, especially the manager must
control the source of goods increasing or decreasing, inventory, debts, employee productivity...By
always updating the situation and progress of departments throughout the system by exchanging
and communicating continuously during the working process to give unified opinions and the best
operating methods
In addition, Vinfast also simplifies management by using human resource management software
to manage the large number of employees concentrated working at one office headquarters, so that
individuals in the organization can track the work progress by each specific department. From
there, it is possible to promptly detect problems and discuss and solve them in the fastest and most
timely way
3. Commitment

As mentioned above, projects and operating processes of enterprises are exchanged, giving unified
opinions as well as specifically dividing the work that each individual undertakes. In addition, this
commitment is both the culture and philosophy of the company, the fact that each individual in the
organization is responsible for the work he or she undertakes has become the minimum
commitment of employees to the work and also of the business to customers. Therefore, when
undertaking the assigned task, the employee must be sure to complete the task in the best way and
take responsibility for that job.
According to Vinfast's human resource strategy, employees are the ones most responsible for all
jobs. In case of poor performance, employees may be fined, disciplined or even fired from the
business. This requirement will motivate employees to work more responsibly and try harder in
completing assigned tasks. The commitment of each individual in the organization, of the business
to employees or customers is not only shown by the success achieved but also most clearly
reflected in 3 of the 6 core values of the business:
The commitment of individuals to the business: "Tin – ensure all commitments". In all activities,
Vinfast always puts the prestige first. This requires the Group's employees not only to meet the
execution capacity but also to make every effort to ensure their commitments. Vinfast's employees
should only promise certain things that can be done and commit to a maximum of 70% of the jobs
within their capabilities. Not only that, Vinfast also puts "Mind – always put the mind to work".
For Vinfast, the word Tam is an important foundation of every activity. With this word, Vinfast's
human resources strategy requires all employees to ensure both social and professional ethics,
while respecting the law. Customer-centric, the Group places the wishes and interests of customers
at the highest position. Therefore, Vinfast's personnel also need to ensure dedication to bring the
most complete products and services to customers.
The commitment of the business to employees: expressed by the word "Human – ensuring fair and
worthy welfare". Vinfast considers employees to be valuable assets. Therefore, to create "human
peace", Vinfast's human resource strategy always adds superior welfare policies for employees.
These policies ensure decent income and fair development opportunities for all employees. Each
employee is the image and representative of the whole company, so Vinfast agreed to spend a lot
of money to train employees, help employees develop professionally while employees are treated
handsomely, ensuring employee welfare. This is also the golden key in Vinfast's human resource
strategy.
4. Teams
Total Quality Management (TQM) is a management approach that seeks long-term success
through customer satisfaction⁴. It involves all members of an organization in improving processes,
products, services, and the culture in which they work. When applied to VinFast's teams, TQM
can bring about significant improvements.
VinFast's teams are diverse, comprising over 12,400 individuals involved in various aspects of the
company's operations. These teams include technical workers, researchers, product developers,
and sales personnel. Each team member plays a crucial role in the company's success, and TQM
provides a framework for continuous improvement.

VinFast underscores the pivotal role of training and cultivating its human resources as a
cornerstone for the successful implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM). Recognizing
the significance of equipping its workforce with the requisite knowledge and skills, VinFast has
instituted comprehensive training initiatives tailored to TQM principles. This encompasses
imparting foundational knowledge encompassing TQM principles, methodologies, tools, and
