“The young child needs adults willing to tell him stories about the world, about his
family and about himself, who help him discover and interpret his immediate
environment. For this reason, fathers, mothers, caregivers and pregnant women play a
fundamental role in introducing children to reading, as they are the first to offer the
baby the reading material they have on hand: words of affection, lullabies. to calm
crying, everyday conversations, singing at bath time, moments to look at the
illustrations in a book, bedtime stories or reading aloud in the afternoons.”
Ana Luisa Tejeda
Promoting reading from early education
INTRODUCTION
EL CENDI YUNUEN GDF, belonging to the Iztapalapa delegation for 11 years; has been
supervised by the SEP and in Initial Education ZONE 4, starting this school year.
We have been chosen to be the focused school of the National Reading Program and we
will begin this school year with a great commitment to the children of our community,
parents but above all for us as teaching staff who will start this project with the help of the
link from from ZONE 4 LAURA TERESA CARRIZOSA OLEDO.
With this initial project, we want to give you the institutional approach to the proper use of
the library; understanding that the School Library is an educational space, which houses an
organized and centralized collection of all the information materials that the center needs to
carry out its teaching task, under the supervision of qualified personnel, and whose activities
are fully integrated into the pedagogical processes of the school. center and are therefore
included in the PETE, PAT and Annual Program Plan.
The Initial Level is the first space within education where children are introduced to reading in
a pleasant and playful way.
The role of Early Childhood teachers is fundamental to build a bridge between children and
books, as a way to equalize opportunities. But the teacher also has to know when to leave
that role so that the child becomes independent.
Perhaps children miss the opportunity to tell their story in their own words, to construct their
own meanings about their own life, to not go unnoticed. And we, as teachers, may miss out
on the possibility of teaching something important, of working from monotony and of not
favoring the child's skills.

The school library offers learning services, books and other resources that allow all
members of the school community to develop critical thinking and effectively use
information in any format and media (…)
All members of the school community must have equal access to the services of the
school library, without distinction of age, race, sex, religion, nationality, language,
social status and professional situation (...)
Access to services and collections must be based on the United Nations Universal
Declaration of Human Rights and must not be subject to any type of ideological,
political or religious censorship, nor to commercial pressure (…)
1. The library is, above all, a place of learning, meeting and communication,
integrated into the pedagogical process to promote the autonomy and
responsibility of the student.
2. The library collects all bibliographic, informative and educational resources in
general: we will not only find documents printed on paper (books, magazines,
newspapers), but all those media in which to find information.
3. Library management must be centralized, although in permanent contact
and collaboration with classroom libraries.
4. The library must be open to the outside, relating to its social and cultural
environment, collaborating with other institutions and using new technologies
that allow it to be connected with any other library or educational center.
1. Provide ongoing support to the teaching and learning program and drive
educational change.
2. Ensure access to a wide range of resources and services.
3. Provide students with the basic skills to obtain and use a wide variety of
resources.
4. Get them used to using libraries for recreational, informative and continuing
education purposes.

1.- Committee: it is formed by the teachers and the parents are not involved and it is not
carried out as such.
2.-. Infrastructure:
a. The library was installed in the PII room because it had enough space to place it,
but it is installed with boxes and has very few copies.
b. There is no wall that separates it from the view of the children taking classes.
c. It does not have a pleasant, pleasant and adequate literacy environment for
children and teachers to use books.
3.- Selection: A little bit of the material, most of it is bibliographic material given by SEP,
there is no audiovisual, computer or reference material for teachers. There are also no
teaching materials.
4.- Update: No donation has been requested and the books are only updated every
time books from the corner are sent to us by SEP.
5.- There is no material provided by the SEP for the library, there is only the National
Strategy 11+5 actions to integrate a community of readers and writers in Preschool (2011
– 2012) and it is the one that is carried out as program planning.
7.- Book Control: The children were lent books and they were monitored, but the parents
did not return them and there were no sanctions; so several copies were lost.
9.- Activities: They are notified through notices of the activities to do in the library but
very sporadically.
10.- Reading rate: There is no control of the reading rate in the room and per child.

SCHOOL PROJECT:
“RENEWING OUR LIBRARY”.
PURPOSE: That children have a pleasant and playful school library, where they
have a variety of books and materials that serve as a tool so that their teaching-
learning process is continuous.
NEED:
The library facilities are not suitable for children or teaching staff.
There are not enough materials and there are books that are in terrible
condition and others that are salvageable.
There is no organization for book loans and the director wants to take
complete control of the library.
There is no regulation.
JOB OFFER:

By renovating the library, there will be a larger and more orderly space for
the library.
With the incorporation of parents to the committee, work will be more fluid
to lend books, organize them when they are returned, keep track of the
index - children's reader in taking the books home, in those consulted at
school and the books used by teachers.
a) Teachers have to know all the SEP material and their classification in the
library along with the teaching material found in it.
b) Exhibition and observation of books appropriate to their age, teaching how
to leaf through them to look at them carefully and the rules for their proper
conservation.
c) In the planning they will schedule books used in the topics.
d) Teachers frequently work with children in the library.
e) Opening hours flexible enough to allow teachers to take children to the
library. They will not necessarily have to use it as a classroom, which would
be useless, but they will have to adapt the way of working to the necessary
use of the library's funds.
f) Director will include the school library project in the PAT.
g) Evaluate the operation of the library since errors will make it possible to
correct what has been done wrong and, therefore, measures can be
applied to improve the operation of the library in the CTCs.
h) Prepare self-assessment questionnaires, analyze statistics, interviews with
different educational sectors to listen to their opinions and proposals.
