The ADT SmartThings Security System combines the latest smart home technology with a state of the art
monitoring service, providing ADT customers with:
24/7 monitoring of smart home sensors
A touchpad to control operations and display system status
Integration with the SmartThings mobile app to control the system from any internet-connected
location
The starter kit contains:

SmartThings Hub
Two Door/Window Sensors
Motion Detector
Additional devices can be purchased separately:
Smoke Detector
Carbon Monoxide Detector
Water Leak Detector
Key Fob Remote
The ADT SmartThings Security system is designed to be as maintenance free as possible, however we
suggest that you still test your system once a month and after any alarm occurrences.
Treat the system as you would any other electrical equipment; do not slam protected doors or windows,
keep dust from accumulating on the touchpad and sensors, and do not spray water or any liquid on the
units.
Note: Your system may or may not be set up for fire protection.
Arm & Disarm the System
Arming
Before arming your system, all protected doors, windows, and other protected zones must be closed or bypassed. The SmartThings hub will
list all zones that are not ready, making it easier for you to identify and secure any open zones.
The Home button on the hub will be green if the system is ready to be armed. If the button is not lit, the system is not ready.

To arm in Away mode:
1. Press the ARM AWAY button.
2. The Hub Status bar will state "System Arming (AWAY)" and "Exit Now".

Exit/Entry Delay
Your SmartThings hub provides a 60-second delay after entering or exiting your home before the system
is alarmed. This delay time cannot be changed.
Bypassing Protected Areas
Each monitored device is carried on a separate zone. Your SmartThings hub allows you to bypass one or
more zones when arming your system. Life safety zones, such as smoke detectors and carbon monoxide
detectors, should never be bypassed.
To bypass all open zones:
1. The hub home screen will display a list of all open zones. Press BYPASS ALL to arm the system
without arming those zones.
2. The system status will show ready to arm. You may now arm your system as usual.
To bypass specific zones:
1. Press SYSTEM SETTINGS.
2. Press BYPASS SENSORS.
3. A list of all sensors will be displayed. Press the Bypass slider control next to each sensor to be
bypassed.
4. Press the RETURN icon to return to the home screen.
5. You may now arm your system as usual.
Displaying Bypassed Zones
The system allows you to determine what zones have been previously bypassed. Bypassed zones can be
displayed only when the system is disarmed, and when the "BYPASS" message described above is
displayed.
To display bypassed zones:
1. Press SYSTEM SETTINGS.
2. Press BYPASS SENSORS.
3. A list of all sensors will be displayed. The BYPASS slider control will be green when the zone is
bypassed. To view only the bypassed zones, press SHOW BYPASSED DEVICED ONLY. Press the

Hub Setup
To set up your ADT Security Hub, follow these steps:
1. Place the Hub in an area of your home that has good Wi-Fi and cellular coverage. Avoid placing it in
direct sunlight, near heat sources, where it can be easily viewed from doors or windows, or where it
can be reached by small children. Places like desks, shelves, or low traffic counters are ideal
placements for your Hub.
2. Attach the desk mount to the Hub. If your mount feels loose, you can tighten the mounting plate
screw found in the back of your Hub with a Phillips screw driver. Do not tighten the screw too much
or it may crack the desk mount.
3. Connect the Hub to a power outlet. Make sure the outlet is not controlled by a switch that could
accidentally cut the power, and that it is not a GFCI outlet.
