Sourcing and procurement

Processing and Transportation
Alchemy provides short and long-term services to process, store, and
transport raw materials according to the requirements of our global customer
base. Supported by our historic relationships with local counterparties, we
facilitate the transportation of commodities to reputable warehouses for
storage before shipping.
Logistics
Our extensive experience in the transportation of minerals and raw materials,
together with our long term arrangements with ports and transport hubs,

COAL TRADING
South Africa Coal Trading
South Africa produces 250 million MT of coal per year and is the 6th largest
producer in the world. Our partners at Mazule Minerals and Energy Resources
(Pty) Ltd manage the sourcing with the mines and the full chain of operations and
transport within South Africa. Alchemy then aggregates coal of different grades
in Maputo, Mozambique for export, and supplies more than 3 million tons of
South African coal per year, predominantly to the Indian sub-continent but also
to East Africa, West Africa, the Far East, the Mediterranean Basin and Northwest
Europe.

CEMENTITIOUS PRODUCTS
Kenya and neighbouring countries are fast growing economies where the
construction sector has boomed in the past 7 years. Kenya cement
consumption alone increased 50% since 2016 to reach more than 9 million tons
in 2022. Cement factories being the main clients of our coal activity in East
Africa, we have made a recent addition to Alchemy’s business line by developing
a new trading and marketing book of cement and other materials such as clinker
and pozzolana. Through its new Kenyan affiliate Malfini Gas Limited, we source
from factories in Kenya, handle logistic and transportation by rail and road to
supply dynamic Kenyan market as well as Indian Ocean Islands through Maast
port in Mombasa.
