Introduction:
In embarking on my personal PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) project, I have set a SMART goal to
enhance my physical fitness by increasing the number of steps I take daily by 20% over the next
six weeks, with a deadline of January 15, 2024. To effectively track and evaluate my progress, I
have devised a comprehensive data collection plan.
My Personal PDCA: Data Collection Plan
Goal Statement:
My SMART goal is to achieve a 20% increase in the number of steps taken daily, fostering a
healthier and more active lifestyle.
What Data will I collect?
The primary measure for this project is the number of steps taken daily.
How will I collect Data?
PDCA Framework:
PDCA Framework Data Collection Activities Frequency/Details
Plan Week 1 (December 1-7, Daily recording of steps taken
2023)
Seven days a week
encompassing Sunday
through Saturday
Do Implement Planned Strategies
and interventions to increase
daily steps
Check Assess progress by
comparing actual daily steps
with the 20% increase target.
Act Adjust strategies if progress
is not meeting the set target
Week 2-6 Similar as Week 1
Why Is This Data Important to Telling My Story?
The Collected data serves as a narrative of my journey towards enhanced physical fitness and
well-being:
Identifying Patterns and Trends
o Enables recognition of patterns in daily steps, aiding in understanding trends and
potential challenges.
Assessing Strategy Impact:
o Allows for an evaluation of the effectiveness of implemented strategies, such as
taking stairs or incorporating short walks during breaks.
Real-time Feedback:
o Provides immediate insights, facilitating timely adjustments to my routine if
necessary.
Motivational Tool:
o Serves as a motivation booster by showcasing progress, even in small increments,
reinforcing the positive impact of efforts.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, this data collection plan is instrumental in achieving my fitness goal. The
daily tracking of steps not only helps in monitoring progress but also provides valuable
insights for continuous improvement. By adhering to the PDCA framework, I am
confident in the efficacy of this approach to bring about positive changes in my physical
fitness.
