The Saurashtra Branch Canal (SBC) is the largest Branch of Narmada Project Canal
System, which offtakes from Narmada Main Canal at Ch. 263.20 Km near Kadi
District - Mehsana and has a length of 104.46 Km. It tails in Bhogavo - II Irrigation
Scheme (Dholi Dhaja dam) near Surendranagar.

Saurashtra Branch Canal is quite a large system but in addition the system is
complex and unique in nature that involves the passages of canal through a
constantly falling ground in more than half of it's initial reach and rises before tailing
into Dholi Dhaja Dam.

Three falls each of 10.91 m magnitude are provided at ch. 5.15 km, 17.76 km and
32.94 km. Approximate 45 MW electricity is planned to be generated from those 3
falls.

For lifting the water in the rising limb of SBC, Five Pumping stations are constructed.

Distribution system.
Current Status This Office covers Culturable Command Area of 1,12,778 Ha of Kachchh district & it’s 7 talukas namely
Rapar,Bhachau,Anjar,Gandhidham,Mundra, Mandvi and Bhuj. Thus, aggregating to 7 talukas of 1 district are covering 182
Water Supply Policy villages under Command Area.
The command network is also facilitating filling up ponds / village tanks for irrigation & domestic use.
