LESSON SCRIPT IN MATHEMATICS 6
(5 minutes) This time, let’s have an activity to test your mental skills on the division of 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers.
Game: “YOU GOT IT RIGHT”
Mechanics:
I have drill cards with two-digit division equations. Let's see how much you know! I'll flash a card with an
equation for you to solve mentally. Write your answers on your "Show Me Board." When I say "stop," stop writing
and raise your "Show Me Board" to show your answer. Wait until I announce the correct answer. If your answer is
correct, record your score. The learner with the most correct responses will be declared the winner.
15 ÷ 5 = N N = 24 ÷ 4 49 ÷ 7 = N 6÷3=N 81 ÷ 3 = N
NOTES TO THE TEACHER: This activity serves as a review on competency in dividing whole numbers. After the
learners give the answers, process them and give appropriate feedback. Prepare drill cards, “Show Me Boards,”
and chalk.
Now, let’s divide 2-digit whole numbers by 1-digit numbers resulting in a repeating (non-terminating) decimal
quotient.
(e.g., 22/3 = 7.3333…)
Lesson Let us do it!
Purpose/Intention
(1 minute)
NOTES TO THE TEACHER: This lesson introduces the mastery of dividing two-digit whole numbers by 1-digit
numbers resulting in a repeating (non-terminating) decimal quotient. An applicable teaser is presented to engross
learners and arouse their interest in the next lesson segment.
Let us recall the different terms of the division process:

Jairah was challenged by her mathematics teacher to solve the equation
posted on the board. Do you think Jairah will identify the last digit quotient? 19 ÷ 3 = ____
Reading the Key
Idea/Stem Questions:
1. What do you need to find in this situation?
2. What do you think Jairah should do to get the result or answer?
3. What do you think is the answer or the quotient?
3 minutes Expected Answers:
1. Jairah will identify the last digit quotient.
2. Jairah will divide 19 by 3 to get the quotient.
3. Jairah’s answer is 6.3333333.
NOTES TO THE TEACHER: Let the learners read and answer the questions. Scaffold the learners on how to
divide 2- digit whole numbers by 1- digit numbers resulting in a repeating (non-terminating) decimal quotient.
Let’s go back to the challenge given to Jairah.
