Before an interview research and preparation is very:

1. Before an interview you have to research about the company:

a. The mission, values, history, and culture of the company.

b. You have to research the products or services the company offers.

c. You have to also research the industry in which the company operates.

d. You also have to check for any recent news related to the company.it can be good or bad news.

2. Find out about the job you have applied for; which is the job description. This includes the duties and
responsibilities of the position you have applied for. Questions can be asked to know whether you know
the duties and responsibilities of that position.

3. Go through your resume or CV:

Make sure whatever you have written or filled in you CV is correct and also be prepared to discuss
each item you have on your CV in detail. Anything you say contrary to what is on your CV will make
the interviewer think you are lying, so make sure you go through your CV well.

4. Be prepared to ask the interviewer question:

Make sure you ask questions even though it is not compulsory to do so, but prepare thoughtful
questions to ask the interviewer about anything you do not know or what to know about the
company.

Make sure your questions are not solely based on the salary and benefits that the company offers.

5. A day before the interview, consider the following;

A. Research the location of the company and plan your route make sure you consider traffic or
potential delays or obstacle and make sure you avoid them to get the interview room early.

B. Your personal appearance is the most thing you need to take note of.

Your personal appearance speaks volumes of you even before you utter a word. Dress well and look
presentable. Put on clothes that suit your job you have applied for. If you have applied to be a banker
or an accountant dress like a banker or an accountant respectively.

C. Gather all your important documents you need such as copies of your CV, identification documents
and other relevant document needed by the company should be carried along.

D. Practice responses to some common interview questions such as;

1. Tell us about yourself.


2. Why do we have to employ you?

3. What is your major weakness?

4. Why do you want to leave your present job and work with us?

5. How much do you want us to pay you?

6. How would you describe yourself in one word?

7. Are you a team player?

- What are your strengths and weaknesses?

- How do you handle stress or pressure?

- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

- What are your long-term career aspirations?

- Can you describe a time when you successfully [accomplished a specific task or project]?

- Give me an example of a difficult problem you solved.

- How do you prioritize your work when you have multiple tasks?

D. Make sure you have enough and good sleep to be refreshed and focused the next morning.

E. Make sure you revised your note and questions that you have prepared to ask during the interview.

During the interview do the following:


1. There is a saying that “First Impression Matters”:
When you are asked to enter the place where the interview is conducted, make sure you
greet the interviewer or if they are many you greet them and do not sit down until you are
told by the interviewer to do so , this shows a sign of respect. Make sure you greet them or
the interviewer with a smile.
2. Make sure you maintain a good posture and attentive body language throughout the interview:

This is an example of people working in a law firm.

3. Sit in a relaxed manner and do not be too stiff. Also return or smile with a smile. Look straight
in their faces(eyeball to eyeball). This is a picture of how your hands are supposed to be in an
interview.
4. Listen to the questions the interviewer ask and respond thoughtfully. Do not be in haste to
answer questions without putting it into thought or reasoning. Make sure a simple question
goes with a simple answer and questions that need more explanation should also be given.
When you did not hear a question well , you can ask the interviewer to repeat the question
by saying “ Sorry”? or “Pardon(me) “ or “Could you please repeat your question?” .

5. You can now ask your questions. Things you want to know about the company that can help you
or the position you have applied for you can ask the interviewer.

After the interview, do the this;


1. Send a “Thank You” e-mail to interviewer within 24hours of the interview. Show
appreciation for giving you the opportunity to come and express yourself and reaffirm your
interest for the job.
2. Make sure you reflect your performance during the interview; whether you performed well
or bad and identify the place you fell short and improve on that.
3. Follow-up on the company if you haven’t heard anything from them within the time frame
and also continue your job search and have confidence in your capabilities.

8. Stay Organized

Keep track of your job search activities and communications:

- Record Keeping: Maintain a spreadsheet or document to track job applications, interview dates, follow-
up actions, and outcomes.
-Follow-Up Schedule: Schedule reminders for follow-up actions, such as sending thank-you notes,
checking in on application statuses, or preparing for upcoming interviews.

9. Professional Development

Invest in ongoing professional development:

- **Skill Enhancement:** Identify skills or certifications that could enhance your qualifications for future
roles.

- **Networking Events:** Attend workshops, webinars, or conferences relevant to your industry to


expand your knowledge and network.

Job hunting can be challenging, but maintaining confidence and persistence is key:

- **Positive Mindset:** Stay positive and resilient in the face of setbacks or extended job searches.
