Hello, music appreciation, one-on-one.
I hope that everything has gone well with
all of you. We want to get right into this video that is dealing with song
structure. I know that many of you probably already know a little bit about song
structure. And song structure is simply the format of a song. Is the organization
of a song divided into different sections. So for most music, most of the music
that we listen to today, I see owned by 99.9% of music we listen to today follows a
certain format. There are certain sections that are included, any songs and those
sessions are usually the verse, the cores and the bridge. Those are the primary
section there. Ashley, make up a song. Alright, once again those out a verse,
chorus and the breach. And we'll start with the core first. Know the course is part
of the stone that's repeated several times. Sometimes people call this section. But
that's the part that is repeated. And a lot of times the Corps has the name of the
song in there. But you hear that their course is repeated the same every time. The
lyrics are gonna be the same, as well as the background music. The melody and the
lyrics are going to be the same as well. Alright, the verse is a little bit
different. The verse gives us, I guess, some insight into what the song is really
talking about. Alright? And you'll notice that a lot of times at the verse, the
verses and music is different in the course music. Most songs start off with a
verse. So when we listen to the first worst, they've given us a little bit
information about the song. Then we have the cores, the repeated power, that is
catchy. And then we'll have a second verse given us even more detail about the
song. Alright, ligand, notice that with the verses that the world has changed and
leave us don't stay the same. From verse diverse. They are different. The core,
everything stays the same. Alright, and then we have agreed. And a lot of songs
nowadays, they don't necessarily have bridges. You still find some uridine and they
do. Usually when they do, that's a sign of a really good songwriter. But the bridge
is that part of music that's going to connect. It's going to connect the second
corps to the third course. A lot of time they put a bridge in just to kind of
change the mood of things or to break the monotony of what's going on, right? But
the bridge is there. Part of the song is totally different. Lyrics are different.
The background music is different in the melody is different. Everything changes at
the bridge. And then we'll go back into the course. In most instances, you'll find
Michelle song or what's the latest name? Whitney Houston song. That's a little bit
different. All right, Now let's talk about some other parts of the song. Alright?
Then, the part of the song that first comes on where there's usually not any words
being spoken or saying, but it's just an instrument. That's what we call an intro.
That's the introduction. And a lot of time doing that part of the song we're going
to introduce to the instrumental thing has gone out. Alright? Don't want to say
theme. The E, M, E or course. Those resounding motifs that we hear throughout a
piece of music. Alright, let's talk about the Free Corps. The pre-course section.
That happens right before the course. It helps build anticipation for the course
and you'll notice it and this John Legend sound that we listened to them. Okay? One
other thing that we need to talk about as far as some structured goals is the
labeling of search. So there's going to be a time when I'm going to ask you to
label some instruction or the form of the song. And whichever power comes first,
that's what we're going to call the a section. And I would say most songs, the
course begins, excuse me, the first stars first. So usually go versus them being
Section eight. Alright, and then we'll have a course which is Section B. And then
we'll have the second verse, which will be section. Hey again. And then we'll have
another B section because the core is usually done to follow up. And then most of
the time we have the C-section, which is a bridge. And then we'll go back into the
B section, which is that last clause. Okay? So less. According to listening to a
little bit of John Legend, ordinary people. First one, the St. the honeymoon pass.
The infatuation tells me is sick alone. Seems likely. Argue, Hey, God, those times
herds. Shoe. This thing work for baby. Slow, slow, slow, slow. Now, as we get ready
to start with the second verse, notice that we just had sections a and B. First
versus second versus, Excuse me, first verse, first-quarter. Here's the second a
section. Moving on. Fabrics, our conclusion, yeah. Small confusing. Your day.
Sometimes it's happened to head back to Hayley good makeup. Now, notice that this
next section, we're going to be the pre-chorus. That's the pre-chorus. You call
them. I just want a section. Here's the second base station will just ordinary
people didn't know. Notice that we've gone into the C-section debris is notice how
it's going to sound different. So back in to the B section. Now that we have just
simply the colder. Hold on. Is the ending material load. The ODA. Slow. Okay, let's
do another song that's a little bit different than this one. And this is going to
be special. Okay, so he is special about Lizzo. Until somebody goes off something
else. Often it isn't wasn't even which again, is it just because I'm black in every
job and so on based on that call, anybody I know and they would tell you that they
missed 3D. I've been used to people judging me. Now notice here we're going to have
the pre-chorus. Feel. Walking home alone. Nobody. Alright. And we have a little
short part is just going to serve as little interlude. And then we're going to have
a second. Hi everybody. Good girl, because she just wanted to throw stones a few
ways. Yeah. Alright, so hopefully we can get an understanding of the different
sections of the song. So what's going to happen is we're going to post the Whitney
Houston video for you in the group assignment or in the assignment section, or it
will be labeled. For you to take a look at the Whitney Houston video is going to
serve as a quiz for you. You need to label the parts, labeled a format of the song.
So if you have any question, please feel free to reach out. Thank you very much.
