Activity 5.1: Problem-Solution Writing Structure
The Transition of Traditional Learning to Online Learning
The pandemic has brought a lot of impact in the world specially in education. The severe
short-term disruption is felt by many families around the world: home schooling is not only a
massive shock to parents’ productivity, but also to children’s social life and learning. Teaching is
moving online on an untested and unprecedented scale. Student assessments are also moving
online, with a lot of trial and error and uncertainty for everyone. Many assessments have simply
been cancelled. Everyone, from the operations and support service units to administrators and
teachers, adjusted to work-from-home arrangements. Importantly, these interruptions will not
just be a short-term issue, but can also have long-term consequences for the affected cohorts
and are likely to increase inequality.
First and foremost, students have a lot of problems and adjustments needs to accomplish.
They have to get used to this new modality of learning in order for them to finish this school
year. They must study on their own, learn everything from the internet, and most importantly
learn to manage their time. Even though students are only at home, they need to consider the
things in home they have to do like home chores and other stuffs. If students failed to manage
their time it could lead for them to not finish the requirements, they have to submit. Aside from
this, students tend to procrastinate for the reason of they are only at home. Everyone can relate
to the feeling of laziness when you are in home, you tend to get lost your motivation to finish
your work since being in home feels comfortable. Most of the students experience this and
leads to them to not do their task in school and rush them at the day of submission. If this
problem continues to arise it could result for them to have a bad grades or worst get dropped
out.
Students must come up with a solution to their current difficulty of adjusting to and
managing their time with the new modality. First, they will have a clear schedule on what they
should do at that exact moment if they create a timetable or planner. According to study, if a
person has a specific task or task set for them to complete rather than doing whatever they
want, it is simpler for them to complete all of the tasks or tasks set for them before their time
runs out. If students follow it, they will be able to focus on their studies and other duties without
worrying about what they should accomplish first before time runs out. Secondly, they have to
overcome the feeling of procrastinating. A good way to prevail over this is the Pomodoro
technique in studying. The Pomodoro Technique is a time management system that encourages
people to work with the time they have—rather than against it. Using this method, you break
your workday into 25-minute chunks separated by five-minute breaks. With this, student can
surmount these problems.
Additionally, one of the biggest collateral impacts during the pandemic is stress, not only
the entrepreneur, government, workers but also students experience having this during the
pandemic. At first, the COVID-19 pandemic was viewed as a chance to spend quality time with
family, and many people appreciated the opportunity. However, as the lockdown dragged on,
the situation deteriorated. People felt like they were living in a cage since they were always
looking at the walls around them and had been in the same area for a long time. Specially with
students, having the feeling of the need to cope up with the new modality of learning. They
overthink what’s the future waits for them and if this online class is really effective for them as a
substitute from the traditional learning. Students are doing non-stop activities and task in order
for them to comply in their requirements for school which additionally leads for them on having
anxiety. Being with family is wonderful, but being separated from friends, classmates and the
outside world is a disaster. Fear and mental health difficulties are natural in a system where
physical health is prioritized before mental health.
Remote online classes should be made available, as well as the appropriate schooling
equipment. Rather than bottled up their ideas and emotions, students should be encouraged to
speak up, talk, and vent in support groups. Members of the family should be able to notice and
provide nonjudgmental treatment to their children, siblings, or parents when they are
experiencing emotional pain. Additionally, Mental health education should be promoted on every
schools. They can conduct a seminar that gives highlight on how to deal and cope up with the
stress or anxiety that every student’s experience. In this way, students will have an idea on how
they can counter or aid the mental illness that is developing before it turns into a worse or
serious problem. Lastly, it is advisable for schools to give a academic break for students to
breakthrough on the exhausting environment they have and to be able to have a personal time
of themselves to relax and think of their decisions in life.
Taking everything into consideration, despite of this form of modality of learning is new to
the experience of the students, they have to deal with it for now in order for them to achieve
their dream job and life. As the saying goes” If there’s a will there’s a way”, meaning if you can
have an inspiration or you really want to achieve a successful life you have to work hard and
endure all the problems you have. Yes, mostly everyone says that the new modality of
education is not effective, but it is better to have something than nothing. If you can patiently
wait and try to take seriously this online class, who knows that next year this will end, and the
face-to-face classes will be back. Always remember that life is not just about studying and
stressing out to comply on your requirements, there is an outside world that awaits on you even
if there is a pandemic. Rather to building up worries about things we can't control, recognize the
problem, figure out how it will affect us personally, and figure out what we can actually do. With
this, you can finish your education and avoid encountering more problems on the way.
