FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
IGALA YOUTH IN LAGOS STATE DISTANCES THEMSELVES FROM PROPOSED
AUGUST 1st PROTEST
Lagos, Nigeria - 23rd July 2024.
The Office of the Igala Youth Ambassador/President (Chief, Ambassador Hassan
Tijani) in Lagos State has taken note of the proposed strike/protest scheduled for
August 1st, 2024, in Lagos and other states across Nigeria.
Following an emergency meeting of the State Executive Council of the Igala Youth
Ambassadors Forum held yesterday, July 22, 2024, regarding the proposed protest,
the following communique was issued:
We hereby call upon our diligent youth members to refrain from participating in the
protest, as it may exacerbate the hardships we currently face.
We vividly recall the consequences of the last protest in Lagos and Nigeria, which
resulted in significant damages to vital infrastructure, public transportation, and the
livelihoods of vulnerable individuals and families. In consideration of these
unfortunate outcomes, we firmly denounce the idea of protest and refuse to be a
catalyst for such actions. We acknowledge the severity of the economic downturn,
but we advocate for alternative means of addressing our concerns rather than
resorting to protest.
The aftermath of the #Endsars protest serves as a grim reminder of the high human
cost and destruction of property that protests can lead to People lost their lives,
properties were vandalized, and public transportation was reduced to ashes.
Therefore, we strongly urge the Igala community in Lagos and beyond to refrain
from engaging in any form of protest, as our leaders are diligently working to
improve the current situation.
Moreover, we take this opportunity to appeal to our esteemed leaders within the
government ranks to engage President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his team in
proactive discussions. We urge them to prioritize effective representation and
address the urgent need for food production, as hunger is rampant among
Nigerians. After all, a hungry man is an angry man.
The Igala youth and the entire community in Lagos are law-abiding citizens who

cherish the strong relationship we have built over generations, guided by the
wisdom of our forefathers and leaders. We sincerely emphasize our stance against
protest, as it risks undermining our harmonious coexistence. Our youth are
progressive contributors to society, not mere protesters.
On a final note, the Igala Youth Ambassador/President, Lagos State, directs all Local
Government and Zonal youths Coordinators, along with the State Executive and all
Igala youth gatherings and individuals in Lagos to stay clear of any intended
protests.
We stand in solidarity with the communique issued by the Arewa Community,
Lagos, headed by Engr Alhaji Saad Yusuf Dandare.
Let us prioritize dialogue and engagement with stakeholders and the government
to address the economic challenges facing our nation.
