1 Overview
1.1 Introduction
One of the main goals of a dye house should be to provide a constant and good
quality of its products. For doing this, it is important to identify quickly faulty
dyeings or products of inferior quality.
Very often it is difficult to recognize the reasons which caused faulty batches, as
Program symbol of the some values of the dying process, like e.g. the temperature or the PH-value
OrgaTEX program manager cannot be constantly observed by the user.
In order to analyze these process values, the SETEX controller saves in regular
intervals (depending on the configuration of the corresponding machine) the
most important control parameters and the actual status of the batch in a special
protocol file and makes them available for the OrgaTEX analysis program. Apart
from these interval information all batch events, like the change of the function,
the alarms, or the operator calls will be registered.
The application Process curves is a tool which helps to analyze batches during
the running time or even after their completion. By means of a graphical display,
it provides the values saved in the protocol file. It offers you all important batch
information at one sight. Apart from the control parameters you can invoke
further detailed information by means of additional windows. Apart from the
display on the screen it is also possible to print nearly all the information. Thus,
in case that there might be a reclamation, it is possible to find and to analyze in a
simple way all the mistakes that might have occurred.

questions
2.1 General information
This chapter will provide you with information about basic procedures and will
cope with questions which are likely to occur in connection with your practical
operations. There will only be a short answer concerning each questions, and you
will be requested to consult other extra chapters in order to get more detailed
information about the corresponding questions.
2.2 How to watch a batch
When you start your application, you will see a window by means of which you
can select a batch. All batches will be displayed in a list. As a single list of all
batches would be too long, you will be asked to define some query criteria. Thus,
only the batches which fulfill the criteria will be listed. If you select a batch from
your list and confirm your selection, the data of the batch will be read and
displayed.
The entire process is called “Opening a batch“. Further information can be
obtained in chapter 3 “Opening a batch.“
2.3 How to analyze automatical interruptions
One of the aims of an automation is to handle a machine as easy as possible. In
this connection it is first of all desirable to avoid alarms and manual
interventions. This section describes the simple analysis of such events. Chapter
4 which is called “report lists“ will describe all analyzing possibilities in a more
detailed way.
2.3.1 Analysis of alarms
User Manual OrgaTEX Version 1.4 Process Curves
4 • Answers to frequent questions
Activating the alarm report When working with an automated machine, alarms might be the reason for faulty
with buttons dyeings. By means of the button “alarm report“ you can display all alarms which
occur during a batch in a list. If you want to examine one of the alarms of the list
more closely, you can jump to the point of time of the alarm, i.e. you mark (this
marking is called time-cursor) the position (time) at which the alarm occurred
within the displayed batch. Like this you can also immediately discover possible
consequences of the alarm.
2.3.2 Analysis of manual intervention
By means of this button status Within the normal controller process the functions to be carried through will be
changes of functions can be executed by the controller. A manual intervention effected by the user
displayed constitutes, just like an alarm, an undesirable automatic interruption. Like with
the alarms, all changes of the function status (started, stopped, confirmed) can be
presented in a list. It is also possible to display single function states. In
connection with manual interventions you will find the function states manual
activated, manual changed, and manual stopped.
A batch should be examined by focusing these three states. Like it is the case
with the alarms, it is also possible to jump back to the point of time at which the
status change took place.
2.4 How to move the marking
The marking with the clock time is called time-cursor . The time-cursor can be
moved by means of the arrow keys (← ↑ ↓ →). If you press the arrow-keys
together with the shift key (⇑), the time-cursor will move faster. If you press the
keys Pos 1, End, Picture ↑ or Picture ↓ together with the shift key, the time-
cursor will move to the beginning, to the end, some pages back or some pages
forward. Further information can be obtained from chapter 5.1: “views“.
2.5 How to display several batches
Selecting another batch with a As mentioned above, the first batch will already be selected and displayed when
button starting the program. If a second batch (or the same batch with just another
process variable) is to be displayed, you must repeat the process of the batch
selection. If you press the “open“ button of the toolbar, you will see the
selection window. Then you will have to proceed in the same way as for the
first selection.
2.6 How to print a batch
Print button A batch which is displayed on the screen, can be printed. There will be a
“head“ page being printed for each print of a batch which will contain
important batch information. The printing can be activated with the “print“
button of the toolbar.

2.7 How to obtain further information about a batch
Apart from the process curves you can display further information about each
batch. These information will be displayed in additional windows. For an exact
description of the additional information and for the way in which it can be
obtained, see chapter 6 “Additional information“
2.8 How to examine parts of the batch more closely
Zoom button of the toolbar In order to examine one part more closely, you must stretch, i.e. enlarge it. This
can be done by means of the “zoom“ button of the toolbar. By means of a dialog
the user is requested to choose a zoom factor. The time axis will be stretched.
depending on this zoom factor the At the same time the values of the axis will be
adjusted.

another criterion you might define the machine number, or, when it comes to
completed or recorded batches, you might also choose the completion date of the
batch as a criterion. These criteria are being defined within the first three lines of
the dialog. All batches that correspond with the defined criteria will be displayed
with batch number, reference number and completion date. By means of the
“open“ button of the toolbar several batches can be displayed at the same time.
By double clicking a batch of the selection list or by clicking it one time and
pressing the OK button afterwards, you can open the batch you have chosen.
Another possibility to open a batch is to insert the batch number directly into the
field “batch“ and to confirm your choice by means of the OK button.

4.4 Function list
Activating with a button of the Each program step of a SETEX-controller consists of a main function and up to
toolbar 12 additional functions, so-termed parallel functions.
The main functions are responsible for controlling the basic machine functions
(usually the dyeing tank of the machine). Each peripheral unit, as e.g. the
additional tank, the preparation tank and the pump, are controlled by the parallel
functions. The functions can be executed parallel to the main functions and are
therefore called parallel functions. Each function is assigned to a function group.
In the function statistics all function changes are being displayed. You can either
select all, as well as only a single function event (as e.g. “activated“). Generally,
only the activities of the main function will be displayed. By means of the option
“show parallel functions“ the function events of all function can be displayed.

5.3 Time-view / Value-view
The time-view contains a time-axis and a time-cursor which displays the time of
the current cursor position. Besides, alarms, user-calls and additions will be
displayed as a bar in the upper part of the window. The time-cursor can be
moved by means of the arrow keys. By pressing the shift button at the same time
you are able to accelerate the cursor movement. By means of the key
combination Shift and Pos1, End, Page up and Page down, you can move the
cursor to the beginning, the end or to the next or the previous pages. A further
display of the time-view depends on the current display modus.
Mode buttons of the toolbar The display mode can be changed by one of the mode buttonn of the toolbar or
the entry in the “View“ menu. The following steps describe the three different
display-modes and the outlook of the value-view in the corresponding mode.

The analog display modus presents the values of up to four defined process
variables on a time-axis (see chapter 7: "settings ").
The value-view displays for each value a vertical axis, which runs from the
minimum to the maximum value, together with the corresponding unit. The
values of the process variables which are present at the “cursor time“ will be
displayed on the axis as an arrow, and above the arrow as a decimal value.
Beneath the time-axis, there will be up to two more process variables.
5.3.2 Digital display modus
Here, the value display contains the state (1 or 0) as well as the names of the bit
marker.
The digital display modus presents the status of the defined digital process
variables (bit marker) on a time-axis. If a bit has been set, there will be a line
drawn on level 1 of the bit marker. Otherwise a line will be drawn on level 0.
5.3.3 Function - display modus
This display modus shows the running time of the single functions. If a function
is being active, it will be displayed as a bar in the time-view. The color of the bar
corresponds with the setting in the event setup (see chapter 7: “settings“) When
dealing with parallel functions, the value-view will display the name of the
function group the function belongs to. When dealing with main functions, the
configured name of the basic process (i.e. usually the “main tank“) will be
displayed.

7 Settings
7.1 Individual settings
The program supports individual settings. Each setting (also called setup)
contains a defined process variable with its assigned colors. Process variables
and colors are selected by means of different dialogs.
7.2 What are process variables ?
At regular intervals the SETEX-controllers record process values or process
variables in a special field, as we have already mentioned above. What kind of
values are these ?
For each SETEX-controller there is a special configuration. This configuration
determines to a high degree the editing of data within the SETEX-controller.
This configuration is able to define so-termed logging values. SETEX-controls
are capable of recording up to 20 analog values (set values, actual value, values
concerning special information) and up to 20 digital values (bit values e.g. valve
open = 1 or valve closed = 0). The configuration defines which values are to be
recorded by the SETEX controller and in which intervals this recording will take
place. The process curve application can only display values which have been
defined in the configuration. In the following chapters, the defined values will be
called possible or available values.

7.3 Selecting analog process variables
Here you can select up to four analog and up to two digital process variables.
These chosen process variables appear afterwards within the analog display
modus. The dialog contains two selection lists for the analog and two selection
lists for the digital process variables. The one list contains all available, the other
list all defined process variables. By means of a double mouse clicking or by
pressing the arrow keys you can put a process variable into a selection list or take
it out of it.
Selection analog and digital process variables
To be activated by means of the command "Analog" from the "Configuration"
menu.
7.4 Selecting digital process variables
Here you can select up to six process variables. These chosen variables will
appear in the digital display modus. The selection of the process variables
follows the same steps as described in the chapter above (“Selecting analog
process variables“).

7.7 Colors
This option allows you to provide the selected analog process variables with
different colors in which they will be drawn. A selection list shows all defined
analog process variables, and by means of a double mouse clicking you can
assign one of the numerous colors to the different process variables. Due to the
differences between the various systems and Pcs, there may be slight deviations
between the defined colors and the colors which will actually be displayed. The
background colors can also be defined.

7.8 Font
By means of this option you can set the font. Since the program is, however,
conceived for a fixed font, the altering of the font might have undesirable effects.
To be activated by means of the command "Font " from the “Configuration"
menu.
7.9 Setting up events
The event or function setup helps you to assign certain attributes and colors to
certain events (e.g. alarms, operator call) or functions. For doing this, you must
first of all set up certain attributes in the event /attribute- definition dialog.
7.9.1 Assigning events / attributes
Attributes can be assigned to functions by means of the function event setup
By means of this dialog you can assign certain events or attributes to the
functions of the different machine groups. Since an event or a attribute is always
combined with a color, you can, e.g. present a function as a colored bar. This will
be used in the function display mode of the time/ value view.
This happens as follows:
• A machine group is being selected
• A function is being chosen
• A function event or attribute is assigned to the function
• The color might be corrected
When exiting the dialog with "OK", all attributions will be saved.
To be activated by means of the command "Event setup" from the
"Configuration" menu.

7.9.2 Defining events /attributes
Activating with a button from By means of this dialog you can define your events or attributes. The dialog is
the „Function Event Setup being activated via a button from the “function event setup." The dialog
dialog“ contains preconceived events for the controller status (alarm, operator call, batch
selected, loading error) and the batch status (batch loading error, etc.). Apart
from those preconceived events you can define another 20 events and attributes
according to your own wishes. For doing this, choose the entries "function event
01" to "function event 20" from the selection list “event“ Like this you can, e.g.
define the function group as an attribute. This happens as follows:
• Choose a free entry from the selection list.
• Assign a new name to the event/attribute within the field “event
name“.
• Assign a color to the event / attribute by means of the “color“
button.
When all function groups have been defined as attributes according to this
method you can assign the attribute to the single functions.
Define function attributes and events.
7.9.3 Example for the usage of events
In this chapter we are going to explain in a more detailed way how to apply your
events. First you have got to define an event, then you have to assign this event to
different functions. In this example we will choose the name of a function group
(system) as the event. Now this event will be assigned to all functions of this
function group. By means of the command “event setup“ from the configuration
menu you can open the function-event dialog. First you must, however, define
the event system function. By means of the button “...“ the event definition
dialog appears. Then you choose a free entry out of the listbox event (free entries
are named “function event 0“.) The event name is then changed into system-
function and a color is being selected. When the dialog is exited with OK, the
entries will be saved. Now the newly set up event is assigned to each function of
the function group system. For doing this you choose a function from the listbox
function and assign it to this function of the listbox function event. After the
restart of the application the functions of the group system will be displayed in
the selected color as a bar in the function display modus.
