Church Solicitation
Dear [_______________________],
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to share with you the
story of Tomas Oppus Hosanna Christian Church and to seek your
generous support for our ongoing efforts to rebuild and sustain our
community church.
Church Background and Development
Our church's journey began in March 2014. At that time, our
congregation was small, with a few members who had recently
converted to Christianity. Despite our limited resources, we were
determined to establish a place of worship. After much effort, we
managed to acquire a piece of land for our church. Unfortunately, due to
financial constraints, we could not purchase the land outright. We
requested the landowner's permission to pay in installments, and we are
still fulfilling this commitment, making annual payments towards the
remaining balance.
With the contributions of our dedicated members, we began the
construction of our church building. We also established a Sunday
school facility near the shore to serve our community's children.
However, in 2021, our area was struck by a devastating super typhoon.
The storm caused significant damage to our church building and
completely destroyed the Sunday school facility. In the aftermath, we
had no suitable place to gather for worship. Despite the extensive
damage, including the near-total loss of our roof, we continued to hold
services in the remaining space, as it was the only place available to us.
Current Challenges and Needs
Since the typhoon, we have made some progress in repairing the
church, thanks to the small but heartfelt contributions from our members.
However, our resources are limited, and we are unable to complete the
necessary repairs and improvements. We continue to pray and hope for
the support of kind-hearted individuals and organizations.
After the disaster, several organizations expressed their willingness to
assist us, but they later withdrew their support due to our church's
proximity to the shore, which did not meet their criteria for aid. This was
a significant disappointment for us.
Recent Developments
In May 2023, John Volkes visited the Philippines and saw the extent of
our church's damage. He encouraged our pastor to write a letter
detailing our needs and to seek further assistance from his network of
friends and supporters. We are hopeful that this outreach will lead to the
support we urgently need.
Project Phases and Financial Needs
Our church's rebuilding and restoration project is divided into three
phases:
1. Payment for the Church Lot: We still owe PHP 535,000 out of the
total PHP 700,000 required for the land. We have already paid PHP
100,065.
2 .Dike Construction: The cost of constructing a dike around our
church lot is PHP 300,000. This dike is crucial for protecting our property
from future storm surges and high waves, given our location near the
shore.
3. Church and Sunday School Repairs: Once the dike is completed,
we will focus on repairing the church building and rebuilding the Sunday
school facility. This phase will be addressed as funds become available.
Request for Assistance
We humbly request your support for our project. Any contribution you
can provide will be greatly appreciated and will be used directly for the
intended purposes outlined above. Your generosity will play a crucial
role in helping us restore our church and continue our ministry to the
community.
We pray that you will open your heart to our cause and consider
supporting us in our time of need. We trust in God's provision and are
hopeful that He will touch your heart to respond positively to this appeal.
Thank you for considering our request. May God bless you abundantly
for your kindness and generosity.
Sincerely
