TURNTABLE

STRATUS 200-300 (WLP) SERIES

PROCEDURES FOR LIFTING THE TURNTABLE

1. Undo the four (4) retaining bolts.

2. Screw a 1/2" NC eyebolt into the center of the table.
3. With a chain or hook through the eyebolt, lift the table using a hoist, being
careful to clear the main sprocket below.
4. Move the table carefully to the side of the machine and place it onto a pallet
or some blocks of wood,

REINSTALLATION

1. Install two (2) 3/S" NC x 4 to 6" long thread rods or pins (available from
Wulftec) into the two (2) opposing retaining bolt holes in main sprocket.
2. Locate the alignment marks on the main sprocket (one (1) or two (2) punch
marks beside one (1) of the four (4) retaining bolt holes). Be sure to align the
table (with matching marks) with this bolt hole.
3. Slowly lower the table, being sure that both alignment rods go through the
proper holes in the table. Once the table has been lowered, screw in two (2)
retaining bolts, complete with lock washers in the holes. Then remove the
two (2) alignment rods and screw in the remaining two (2) retaining bolts.
Tighten all four (4).
4. Remove the eyebolt.
5. Insure that the table rotates correctly by using the table jog control.

TURNTABLE (cont’d)

CUMULUS 200-300 (WHP) SERIES

PROCEDURES FOR LIFTING THE TURNTABLE

1. Place some 1 "1/4 shims under the center sprocket to prevent it from
slipping down,
2. Undo the four (4) retaining bolts.
3. Screw a 1/2" UNC eyebolt into the center of the table.
4. Move the table carefully to the side of the machine and place it onto a pallet
or some blocks of wood.

REINSTALLATION

1. Install two (2) 3/8" NC x 4 to 6" long threaded rods or pins (available from
Wulftec) into the two (2) opposing retaining bolt holes in main sprocket. If
the main sprocket is not flush with the drive sprocket, place shims under
the main sprocket in order to facilitate the retaining bolt replacement.
2. Locate the alignment marks on the main sprocket (one (1) or two (2) punch
marks beside one (1) of the four (4) retaining bolt holes). Be sure to align the
table (with matching marks) with this bolt hole. This is very important
because all tables and sprockets are matched sets for better performance.
3. Slowly lower the table, being sure that both alignment rods go through the
proper holes in the table, Once the table has been lowered, screw in two (2)
retaining bolts, complete with lock washers in the holes. Then remove the
two (2) align-ment rods and screw in the remaining two (2) retaining bolts.
Tighten all four (4).
4. Remove the eyebolt and the shim under the sprocket,
5. Ensure that the table rotates correctly by using the "Turntable Jog" control
switch located on the control panel. If table rotates properly you are ready to
resume normal wrapping.

NOTE: If the proximity sensor has been removed, replace it following the
instructions given in this manual at section PROXIMITY SENSOR
ADJUSTMENT before starting the machine.

CHAIN REPLACEMENT

STRATUS 200-300 (WLP) SERIES

1. With the table removed, slowly rotate the main sprocket, using the table jog
control, until the chain link is visible.
2. Loosen the chain by loosening the transmission plate until the drive chain is
sufficiently slack.
3. Undo the chain link and remove the old chain.
4. Feed a length of stiff wire (or wire fish tape) through the opening at the back
of the machine, behind the transmission. Hook it onto the new chain at a
point that would allow easy reattachment of the chain link, approximately
five (5) feet from the center, and pull the chain to the back, looping the chain
over the drive sprocket on the transmission. Place the chain around the
main sprocket. Reattach the chain link. Tighten the chain at the
transmission to take up the slack (do not over tighten).
5. Grease chain and fill the oil baths.
6. Reinstall the table.

CUMULUS 200-300 (WHP) SERIES

(No chain on Cumulus 300 because there’s a ring gear.)
1. On current models it is not necessary to remove the turntable.
2. Slacken the four (4) bolts on the side of the drive box to loosen the
transmission.
3. Back off the tension adjuster bolt.
4. *Undo the chain link and replace the chain (#50 ANSI) with a new one of the
appropriate length.
5. *Adjust the chain tension by turning the adjuster clockwise,
6. Tighten the four (4) bolts on the drive box that secures the transmission.

MAINTENANCE

CASTERS
CUMULUS 200-300 (WHP) SERIES
The caster bearings and thrust bearings (see items #10 and #18 in PARTS LIST
CUMULUS (WHP-200-300) on page 48) should be well lubricated every month
with wheel bearing grease (EP 2). They may be done one at a time, without
table removal, .or all four (4) at once with the table removed. In order to provide
the proper side slippage, and to significantly reduce caster wear, the face of the
caster that contacts the table, should be greased as well. The caster bearing
fitting is situated inside the wheel.

CAM FOLLOWERS
STRATUS 200-300 (WLF) SERIES
Cam followers service is limited to ensuring that the oil baths are filled with EP
80 gear oil. This should be checked every month or after 250-300 pallets for
the first three (3) months, then, it should be checked every three (3) to four (4)
months, depending upon usage. Oil baths can be filled by positioning the
outer filler plug in line with the punch mark located on the main frame (see
PARTS LIST STRATUS (WLP) 200 on page 49) and then by removing the two (2)
1/4” pipe plugs with a 1/4" Allen key. Check the level with a dipstick. The
minimum level is 1-1/4" and the maximum level is 1-7/8", After filling the oil
baths, replace the pipe plug. If a cam follower fails to rotate smoothly, it must
be replaced with a new one,

REDUCER
AU Wulftec reducers are filled with synthetic oil to ensure smooth operation.
This oil should be changed after 6000 hours of operation or every year and a
half to two years whichever comes first. We at Wulftec recomend synthetic oil
SHP 220 TERESSTIC from ESSO or equivalent. (The WLP 19:1 inline
transmissions require 350 ml of oil).

RING GEAR
The ring gear bearing and pinion should be greased periodically on the outside
and also on the inside with the 4 zerts under the roller of the turntable, with a
high quality open gear grease. Visually inspect by looking under the table.

CARRIAGE LIFT CHAIN TENSION ADJUSTMENTS

Position the carriage to the center of

the travel limits. Hold the locknut
while tightening the tension adjusting
nut on the "upper" section. (The lower
LGCKfSWT
section is for aligning the v-
TENSION ADJUSTMENT i groove/carriage mounting plates). Do
not over tighten and assure that both
chains are equal in tension. Once set,
hold the adjustment nut and tighten
the locknut.

PRE-STRETCH CHAIN ADJUSTMENT

The pre-stretch chains should be checked to ensure the proper tension
(approx, every 2000 hours of operation). If the chains are found to have
?ay u® adjusted- (°'015” * P^y per foot of chain is
recommended) The motor chain may be adjusted by loosening the four (4)
o ts from under the top plate of the carriage and moving the motor using the
SxOts provided, The pre-stretch chain tension may be adjusted by using the
cam & sprocket (number 38 on fig.21), This cam has an eccentric hole and
may be turned for chain adjustment.
