Healthy school dinners

In Britain, a lot of students eat lunch at school, but the food is often not very healthy. Some years ago, a famous
chef, Jamie Oliver, decided to try to make school dinners better. To do this, he made a TV show called Jamie’s
School Dinners. (1)        And they showed that it wasn’t always easy for Jamie!
First, he went to Kidbrooke School in London. The head dinner lady there was called Nora. (2)
He also found out that the children liked unhealthy food such as chips. But Jamie’s ideas for healthier meals
were expensive and difficult to cook. (3)        However, Jamie wasn’t going to give up easily.
To help the dinner ladies, first Jamie showed them how to cook very big meals easily and quickly. Then he
showed the students why fast food is unhealthy. (4)        After that, he took them into the kitchen to
learn about cooking. Finally, he asked the government to spend more money on school dinners.
After the TV series, Jamie started an idea called ‘Feed Me Better’. This was to make everyone understand why
healthy meals are important. Also, Nora wrote a book called Nora’s Dinners. (5)        A lot of people
were interested in the book, but fast food is still very popular in schools and at home. However, Jamie hopes
that things will change one day.
