LABORATORY REPORT # 6
POWER

Submitted by: Submitted to:

Introduction:
Power is the rate at which work is done or energy is transferred in a unit of time.
Power is increased if work is done faster or energy is transferred in less time. The
relationship between work and power is that power is how fast work is performed.
Mechanical power is equal to how fast work is performed over time and can be
represented by the equation P=W/t, where P is equal to power, W is equal to work and t
is equal to time. Thus, if more work is done in a smaller amount of time, more power will
be generated. Similarly, if the same amount of work is done slower, in a greater amount
of time, then less power will be generated.

Materials:
 Tape measure
 Phone as a timer
 Weighing scale
 Mat

Procedure:
 First, we prepare the materials that we need in performing the push-up.

 Second, when my partner performed the push-up, I start the time then measured

her shoulder to the ground as initially and the time resumed and stopped so

afterward I measured her shoulder to the ground as her final.

 Then, I gathered the needed data to calculate the Power and Work.
Results/Calculation:

Push-up Mass Time Initial Final Work Power

9 61 3.41 0.32 0.41 53.86 15.79
10 61 4.52 0.34 0.42 47.87 10.59
Total: 39.06 1178.88

Discussion:
From the Data gathered, I can observe that there is inconsistency in the
performance of the push-ups thus I can say that if the execution is consistent then it can
have more reliable results.

Conclusion:
According to the data that I have therefore I can say that if more work is done in
a smaller amount of time, more power will be generated. Similarly, if the same amount
of work is done slower, in a greater amount of time, then less power will be generated.
Thus, if more work is done in a smaller amount of time, more power will be generated.
Similarly, if the same amount of work is done slower, in a greater amount of time, then
less power will be generated.
