CHAPTER IV
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
This chapter presents the results of testing the prototype robot designed for
egg collection and health monitoring in poultry farms. The tests were conducted based
on the specified functionalities of robot in terms power consumption, egg collection,
and health monitoring. Data collected from experimental setups and testing
procedures are analyzed and discussed.
Product Test
The project was developed to satisfy the objectives of the study. The following
were the results after a series of tests.
Power Consumption
Assessing the power consumption of robot’s system is crucial for
understanding its energy efficiency. The power consumption was monitored during
the robots movement.
Number of Trials Duration (hours) Power Consumption
(KWh)
1 24 14.2
2 24 14
3 24 14.3
4 24 14.2
5 24 14.1
The system's predictable and stable power consumption patterns indicate
reliable performance and effective energy management, which are crucial for
sustainable operations and cost planning in poultry farming.
Robots Specification:
Voltage : 48V
Rating : 800W
Efficiency : 85%
Battery Specifications:
- Voltage: 48V
- Capacity: 350Ah
Power Losses and Usage Calculations:
Power Input (P):
P= (Power) × (Efficiency) = (800W) × (0.85) = 680W
Current Draw (I):
I = (Power)÷ (Voltage) = (680W) ÷ (48V) = 14.16A
Battery Life (T):
T = (Battery Capacity) ÷ (Current Draw) = (350Ah) ÷ (14.16A) = 24 hours
Egg Collection
The total of eggs collected measures the robots ability to handle eggs. Test
were conducted to determine the eggs collected by the robot.
Number of Duration Total eggs Eggs Breakage rate
Trials (Hours) collected colleccted per (%)

1 24 720 30 2
2 24 710 29.6 2.1
3 24 730 30.4 1.9
4 24 725 30.2 2
5 24 715 29.8 2.1
The results of the trials indicate that the advanced robotic system for egg
collection is both reliable and efficient. The system consistently collected a high
number of eggs, ranging from 710 to 730 eggs per 24-hour period, demonstrating its
robust productivity.
Health Monitoring
Health monitoring trials show consistent detection and early intervention of
health issues, leading to significant improvements in health outcomes and a low
mortality rate, reflecting the system's effectiveness in maintaining flock health.

3 7 16 13 82 0.4
4 7 15 12 80 0.5
5 7 14 11 78 0.6
This measures the number of health problems identified by the system,
highlighting its sensitivity and ability to monitor flock health.
Discussion
The integration of advanced robotics in poultry farming presents a
transformative approach to modernize practices, significantly enhancing productivity
and operational efficiency. This study demonstrates that robotic systems for egg
collection and health monitoring can consistently manage high volumes of eggs with
minimal breakage, thereby reducing waste and ensuring higher quality produce. By
automating these processes, the system alleviates the dependency on manual labor,
which is often inconsistent and prone to errors, leading to more reliable and efficient
operations. The system's ability to detect health issues early and administer timely
interventions results in improved health outcomes and lower mortality rates among
the flock, highlighting its potential to elevate animal welfare standards. Furthermore,
the stable and predictable power consumption patterns of the robotic system
underscore its energy efficiency, enabling better resource management and reducing
operational costs. The reduction in stress for laying hens, facilitated by the minimal
human intervention required, further contributes to a more humane farming
environment. This not only enhances the well-being of the animals but can also lead
to increased productivity, as less stressed hens are typically more productive. The
implementation of such advanced technologies sets a new standard for sustainable and
ethical food production, addressing the growing global demand for high-quality,
responsibly produced food. Despite the initial costs and technical expertise required,
the long-term benefits in terms of efficiency, sustainability, and animal welfare make
a compelling case for the adoption of robotics in poultry farming. Overall, this study
underscores the significant potential of robotics to revolutionize the poultry industry,
making it more efficient, sustainable, and humane.
