VII. Recommendations

5. Unappealing prepaid plan package

Josie: Smart should maximize consumer spending through modifications of prepaid

plans.

Most users of SIM-only prepaid plans are students and individuals who do not have the
means to afford WiFi connectivity in their households. Most prepaid plans of Smart offer
a daily limit of data connectivity. An example is in its Giga prepaid plans, where the
package contains 2GB of data connectivity every day plus 2GB of shareable data for a
certain number of days depending on the availed load package. This package provides
2GB of data every day to the user, so when a new day comes, the remaining data capacity
from the previous day will be wasted. Students are heavy users of the internet, most
especially in this time of fast growing technological advances, where internet connectivity
is essential in the daily routine of everyone. 2GB of data a day is not enough for a student.
I, as a previous Smart user myself, experienced it first-hand. Data consumption in a daily
manner is not always the same. There are days that users consume less than what they
used to consume, and there are days that they consume more than what they used to
consume. Smart Communications, Inc. Should modify these kinds of prepaid plans to
better serve its consumers. Its competitor, Globe Telecom, offers a wiser package of
prepaid plans, providing its consumers the whole data connectivity capacity throughout
the whole time.
