Case Study:
At Indian High School, the safety of students on and around the school premises is a top
priority. With the rising concern about road safety, especially during peak school hours, the
school administration decides to launch an innovative initiative called "The Great School Safety
Patrol Challenge" to educate students about road safety and encourage them to become
proactive safety ambassadors within their community.
The Indian High School is situated in a suburban area with busy streets surrounding
it. The school has a significant population of students who walk or ride to school, along with
heavy traffic flow during drop-off and pick-up times.

Title: Staying Safe on the Road
Roads are busy places where cars, trucks, bicycles, and pedestrians all share the space. To make
sure everyone stays safe, it's important to understand and follow road safety rules. As a grade 5
student, you can play a big role in keeping yourself and others safe while traveling.
Firstly, always use sidewalks when walking. If there are no sidewalks, walk on the side of the
road facing traffic so you can see vehicles coming towards you. When crossing the street, use
crosswalks if available, and always look both ways before crossing. Never run or play near the
road as it can be dangerous.
If you're riding a bicycle, wear a helmet to protect your head in case of a fall. Ride on the right
side of the road, in the same direction as traffic, and use hand signals to indicate when you're
turning. Remember to obey traffic signs and signals, just like cars do.
When riding in a car, make sure you always buckle up with a seatbelt. Sit in the back seat if
you're under 13 years old, as it's the safest spot. Never distract the driver by shouting or playing
loudly in the car.
By following these simple rules, you can help make the roads safer for everyone!
